Just wondering. Is there any connection between the Settle railway line and Burnley, or do you have to connect through Skipton?

You'd have to go to Leeds I suspect to connect to Burnley, but I could be wrong.

You need to time it right, otherwise you could have a very long wait at blackburn. Only 1 train a week- On Sundays From Blackburn to hellifield

You have to go via Bradford to do that. Blame Dr Beeching.

Could be longer than that - it only starts running in May for the rambling season.

Probably quicker to stand for Parliament and reopen the line properly. The irony is the line's already in working order, the Manchester clitheroe train already goes partway down it to turn round every hour but apparently they can't shave £7.80 off HS2's £100 billion budget to buy a sweeping brush for Chatburn Station Platform.

Thought at first you were thinking of an association

Remember Barden Senior School owning Dent Railway Station before the days of Lancashire County Council on the Settle to Carlisle Line, just up from Ribblehead Viaduct.

Happy memories of a few field trips there before moving on to BGS. Often go to the Dales and think what a shame the town didn't retain it for future pupils of the schools in Burnley.

Isn't there a bus connection between Colne and Skipton? There must be. And the Settle Line goes through Skipton, right? The other possibility is to take a bus to Settle, itself. Sure wish they hadn't torn up the Ribble Valley line.

It's a tragedy that Dent Station isn't available for the schoolkids of Burnley nowadays. I had a brilliant time there. The outdoor pursuits were challenging, the conditions were tough but also character-building and if you were interested in trains, you could stay up all night trainspotting as the line was extremely busy in those days (the 70s) with freight trains passing through the station every few minutes.
