Littleborough cricket club

Post by Shore claret » Sat Mar 10, 2018 11:59 am

A recent post was bemoaning the lack of world class professionals in the local leagues. I'm sat in the cricket club at a kids party and they have a selection of the old pro's on the wall.
Stuart law
Franklyn stephenson
Joel garner
Garfield sobers
Ezra mosely
Andy Roberts
Chris schofield, local lad
Some very well known names that would certainly draw a crowd

Had good pros at Littleborough. Joel Garner was there when he played for Burnley as a sub pro.

They also had a massive impact on the local community, at least a couple of Garfields in Littleborough and I'm fairly sure Stuart law married a local girl

Mike Whitney not on your list Shore. Was pro in 1983 when we won the league. I was lucky enough to play alongside all of the names you mention including Schoey who was a nipper in the seconds when I was the old fogey. Thought Stuey married an air hostess from Cheshire but I may be wrong. Enjoy the party!

Yes I saw most of those pros at Hare Hill many moons ago although my favourite was Duncan Carter, a very gifted all rounder. A nice place to spend a summer afternoon along with a few pints of Websters!
