Morley v Cochrane
After seeing CFCs Millwall match thread and Terry Cochrane mentioned I wondered others opinions with hindsight.
At the time I was just about the only Claret I knew who preferred Morley.
When he got the ball the next player with the ball was a Claret. When Cochrane got the ball you could see some genius and you knew he would take his man on, several times, but he had to cross off his right foot and often it finished in the crowd.
With their later careers Morley would look the more successful, with titles and England caps.
I leave it up to you.

Re: Morley v Cochrane
Morley never really did it for us,his career took off at Villa. Cochrane was far more effective in his time at Burnley.

Re: Morley v Cochrane
You are probably right there. Morley never stirred the blood like Cochrane did but Cochrane frustrated me so much and I'll never forget Uwe screaming at the bench to get the f*'+er off against Wolves in a League Cup tieClaretTony wrote:Morley never really did it for us,his career took off at Villa. Re: Morley v Cochrane
Both could be lazy & disinterested at times but that's what you get with out & out wingers I suppose
For me Cochrane's super strike at ewood is up there with all the recent ones against them & Morley scored a nice one in the 2-1 win there the season after.
Both could excite & frustrate in equal measure but Cochrane was more of a trier than Morley - who was more interested in getting one over on Bob Lord
Cochrane for me.

Tony Morley for me , good lad as well
Re: Morley v Cochrane
Tony Morley was always going to be a good player. Came to the club for £100,000 which was a club record fee and a lot of money for Burnley at the time. He took a lot of time to settle and never really established himself in the first team. Always more difficult in those days with there only being one substitute allowed. He scored two good goals in a 3-1 home win against Notts County which for a n eleven year old boy to see his favourite player net twice after a lot of stick from our fickle crowd was great.

Re: Morley v Cochrane
I liked both but I think Morley edges it.
I like him too for the fact when I was over there a few years ago, we were supposed to play Villas over 50's but they couldn't muster enough players so we had to play their over 35's. After the game I mentioned I was a Burnley fan and was looking forward to play against Morley, one of their staff got on the phone and Morley showed up at the Pub after the game. We had a good chat about Burnley, he said he enjoyed it there.

Re: Morley v Cochrane
Morley played for England and European Cup Winners, enough said.
It's a shame no one got hold of Cochrane when he was younger. By the time we discovered him it was too late. Could beat 3 men on a sixpence, get clear through on goal, then turn around and try to beat them again. Great talent, rubbish football brain.

Two of my favourite Burnley players.
