Leicester City

Thoughts on this? Quite a few people on here seem to 'fear' Leicester City will overtake us in the league (going off quite a few posts, particularly on the Europa League thread). Now I know as Clarets we are in a bit of a rarefied atmosphere being 7th and we are a cynical lot at times but I'd like to know exactly why so many hold this view? We have been above them pretty much all season and even after our run of 11 games without a win (due largely to some very tough fixtures and a shocking injury list - now improving very well) they couldn't catch us.
What is the basis of this fear?

Theyve got the easiest run in of anyone. Followed by Arsenal.

Interesting, they won at West Brom last Saturday but hadn't won any of their previous five games and that included fixtures against Everton, Swansea, Stoke & Bournemouth.

They're inconsistent at the moment but capable of finishing 7th.
I think they'll win at least 4 of their final games, their away form will decide whether or not they catch us.

Just need to unsettle Mahrez &/or Vardy so they down tools again.

I think it all comes down to our game against them as to who finishes 7th.

Despite having good defenders their defence is sloppy at times. And despite having potent attackers they don't seem to deliver consistently.

As far as footballing talent goes they are superior to us, but then most teams in this division are. That is why how well we are doing is so remarkable.

The last 4 games they've got will all be tough. 3 fighting relegation and 1 going for CL Place

Beat them at home and we'll be fine and dandy

My concern is that they'll win the FA Cup which will make 7th place irrelevant to us (apart from an extra £2 million in the bank).

Basically, if they win the FA Cup we can't qualify for the Europa league.

Differences of opinion.....some people are optimistic, some people are pessimistic, some people won’t believe it until they see it and others don’t like to tempt fate and think it’s too good to be true.....everybody thinks differently and all are entitled to their view.....

Vardy and Mahrez clicking is the only worry at the moment. They're unstoppable at their best and I think they'll be the difference between them finishing 7th or below. If only City would've done the Mahrez deal...

Cant see them winning the FA cup, well, hopefully not. that gives us every chance of finishing in 7th, IF we beat them, and i cant imagine why not, the way weve improved over the last 2 games gives us every chance, no teams are taking us for granted now and we are still 6 clear of Everton, if we can hold our current form, i think we will be home and dry, i hope Leicester get dumped out of the cup this weekend and Mahrez and Vardy spit out their dummies, Europe here we come utc

If we beat them at TM, odds are well against them catching us. We're 3 points ahead now and 3 points for us in that clash would mean they had to outperform us by 6 points in the other 7 games. Their run in isnt too bad but neither is ours, we'd probably still be favourites with a draw in the mutual game.

Don't think Ward will let Mahrez constantly cut inside him which will get to him a bit. Just worried about Vardy if a ball comes over the top and he's in a race with our CBs.

Nothing at all to fear about them and can see Wood being really up for it!!!

Maybe it’s the fact that Leicester have beaten us in recent battles we’ve had where it matters, winning the Championship in 13/14 and avoiding relegation when we didn’t (when they looked dead) the season after.

Just worry about ourselves.

We need to beat them at home.

And probably win 4 more of our games.

West Brom, Bournemouth, Stoke, Brighton.

Home and Away Tables.
Our home goalscoring record is easily the poorest in the division - even Southampton have scored more. This is the issue we need to address if we are to make further progress.

Their game against Southampton the week after we play them is postponed. If we play Chelsea in the week between Leicester and Stoke away that is a big big chance to open up a gap on them.

They're a strong team. So are we. Make a comparison man for man and there isn't a lot in it. They have Mahrez yes but Ward will quiten him and stop him cutting inside. After that they look for the runs by Vardy. I think we can handle that. They may be stronger in midfield - just but at the back we can upset them. Just let Ash loose on them.

6th or 7th for us depending on arsenals hunger....fancy everton to push comfortably ahead of leicester and others....

in terms of club achievment, we're a far bigger deal than leicester....one season wonders on a gentle slide now.

What's deluded about going for a position in the table with only 8 games left? A position we've rarely been below this season.

I watched the game and to be honest. Yes, Leicester came out up for it and gave it a go EVENTUALLY. Were they particularly good against a limited Chelsea? You'd be disappointed if Mee/tarks let that second in!
Albrighton has a wand of a foot, Mahrez was hit and miss. Vardy does what he does. Meh! Wouldn't mind Albrighton though. Come to a proper club!
