Andy Carroll (permanent injury) and Peter Crouch are the 'unique' element which could catch out other nations.

Could be a good call.

Sad state of affairs if it comes down to this....

I'd rather they picked Abraham.

Sadly, he probably Will! Most overrated player for years.

When a player who has spent much of the season on the bench for a club desperate for goals makes the squad we are in trouble.

He's only just come back from a bad injury.

To his hands

He has some issues. Israeli by birth, but obviously, his father is Welsh. Not sure that he has any grandparents at all. Perhaps as he theoretically has lived everywhere for almost 2000 years, England can claim him.

Jesus is often referred to an Israelite, but at the time, that was not a nationality, but a tribe.
Although he was born in Judea (at Bethlehem) he grew up in Nazareth, Galilee, where his
parents paid taxes, under the tender mercies of Herod Antipas, who ruled Galilee
under the approval of the Roman Empire, which technically makes him a Galilean.

But, of course, he was the world's first "internationalist". ;)

I saw Crouch come on against us in December and I saw him come on against City last week. He's been a very good player but no longer and to even think of him playing for England now is beyond far fetched.

Why the animosity towards Crouch?

He banged them in for fun when playing for England. One of the most overlooked players in recent times.

Over the last 10 years, I'd have had him as a permanent fixture in the England lineup along with Defoe, probably still today even.

You need to look at who he scored against.

He was so prolific against smaller nations that as a result he was the deadliest international striker on the planet.

Up against any decent defender at international level and Defoe was simply outclassed. That's why he was never a regular.

That and Defoe wasn't massively prolific anyway at club level.

Not that we're allowed to critisize Defoe on here according to some.

Not yet though - we haven't finished lent. He'll be touch and go until the third day.

And if he puts in a bad performance he'll just get crucified!

Jesus used to be a goal keeper but he kept getting nailed on crosses.

I agree with poster above that crouch should never have been out of the England squad. Good player anyway but a great super sub that would flummox a lot of teams and give England a plan b or c, ie. against Iceland.

Crouch should never had an England cap.Same goes for Abraham picked by the media. Both total crap with very limited ability.
