Hardly a surprise that someones tried.

Not a surprise that some have tried, there are a lot of freeloaders in London (not least in Westminster). However, for one family to have gotten something like £1 million in aid when one of them is a convicted fraudster is alarming.
More fraud trials around Grenfell to come undoubtedly. Hopefully anybody found guilty will be severely punished for depriving the real victims.

These pieces of sh1t were in receipt of flats they weren’t even living in. Receiving housing benefits for the flats then sub letting. I believe they were offered an amnesty in order that the authorities could accurately assess the number of people who perished and who they were.

Listening to the radio yesterday and apparently the fireproof doors were only able to last half the time they're meant too.

Poor quality and/or poor fitting meant they weren't up to the minimum requirements.

There are a number of people who need prosecuting for various offences from false claims to providing substandard products.

Front doors. I live in a flat built in 1962 whose front doors do not meet the FB30 (thirty minute standard) that is today's requirement. Whilst they should seek permission, many like to change their front doors. It may be that some owners of the Grenfell flats have done this.

It would also be interesting to know if an FB30 fire door would have saved any lives in the Grenfell incident - I suspect not.

Whilst the failure of the fire door in the test might be symptomatic of the whole set up I wouldn't have thought it was crucial. How the fire spread so quickly from the original source is surely the key question.

On sub letting, I suspect this was known in general terms but was and is difficult to deal with. It goes on everywhere and is therefore a separate issue not confined to Grenfell.

But don't mention the illegal sub letting, or the claiming that your family died in order to obtain money or the claiming 15 lived in a 2 bed flat. If you do, then you're a racist.

The country's an absolute mess. From the incompetent and possibly downright evil government all the way down to **** like this whose fraud detract from real victims plight, via everything in between. Every strata of society is filled with nasty bastards only out for themselves.

I voted remain. I've been called all sorts of things because of it unfortunately. Sadly it's a very divisive debate where both sides feel it's better just to insult each other.

The right of free speech will continue to be abated as long as racism and sexism accusations are bandied about as freely as they have of late.

The reason why social media indicates high levels of support for the left is because those of a centre or centre-right persuasion are too often accused of racism and consequently aren't willing engage in debate on such platforms. They will, however, vote.

Those who cry racism, sexism, bigotry at every opportunity are stifling constructive debate in society in order to hold what they perceive as the moral high ground.

If some of the posters on here would try to put themselves in others' shoes, Immigrants, people of colour Refugees etc!... really! try to see it from their point of view. This requires actually talking to people! understanding where they're from ....instead of judging on colour ,appearance, language etc etc. You might find that they share your values/ they may surprise you!....They have children! they want a better life for them (the children)....health, education, safety etc....to me that signifies a good person!.. Someone who is trying.
As someone who grew up near Colne in the 60's and experienced the hostility to ANYONE who was even slightly different......let me tell you!.. you lot need a bit of fresh blood mixing in!... I've lived in Los Angeles for over 30 yrs, we have so many exotic mixed race people that nobody gives a **** anymore.
