Sandblasting
Hi Guys.
Can anyone recommend a good sand blasting company who also do the pointing afterwards?

I'm a stonemason.
I've moved away from sandblasting and now use a 250 bar power washer.
Cleaner, cheaper, and easier.

Re: Sandblasting
Sandblasting is an incredibly mucky job. Everything is a mess afterwards.john'sroseyspecs wrote:Never had it done. Feels like i have though because my neighbours did. Sand everywhere. They'll sheet up. My arse they will
Including damage to windows and vehicles.
Re: Sandblasting
Fingerblasting has a very similar outcome.

Re: Sandblasting
Knocking the old pointing out and grinding of it has to be done prior to blasting just so you know.I've used Uniblast twice for the front and back of my house and they've done a great job both times. They also use subcontractors for pointing or you could get a local builder to do it beforehand and after.
Re: Sandblasting
I'd agree with halfmanhalfbiscuit, don't sandblast.
It damages the stonework.
Use a torc or doff system instead.

When it comes to pointing, use a mix of lime and sand. Cement is too hard and impervious again resulting in longer term damage to the stone.

Tell ' em to go easy on the stone round ya Windows and door. It's usually softer than the walls.

Re: Sandblasting
Spot on. My mate bought his first house, had a new front door with coloured glass panels fitted. Then went away on holiday as the sandblasters didn't need access. When he got home they had totally ruined the door and the glass.halfmanhalfbiscuit wrote:Sandblasting is an incredibly mucky job. Everything is a mess afterwards.
