What an absolute dickhead. Wonder if it was some nimby unhappy at parking or noise from kids playing sport.

Hope his house gets egged

What an absolute pillock.

I've played cricket up at Forest for last 3 years. Odd thing for someone to do, unless like you said it is malicious. It's not exactly causing any harm when it's on the other side of the bypass from the village, and has a lot of parking down the lane.

Children’s football matches could be abandoned after a “senseless” Range Rover driver tore up a village pitch in his vehicle.

The shocking incident took place around 8-45pm on Monday when Pendle Forest Sports Club chairman Darren Helliwell witnessed the 4x4 churning up the field in Fence.

Ruined
Ruined
He said: “I was in the clubhouse emptying dehumidifiers from an earlier flood we’d had when I heard the car.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it doing ‘doughnuts’ from one goalmouth to the other. How anybody in their right minds can think that's acceptable is beyond me.

“The pitch is absolutely ruined and we may have to cancel our spring and summer matches that were planned for the local children. I’m disgusted. If it was kids on motorbikes you could maybe understand it, but this was obviously a grown adult. It's pathetic, they're old enough to know better."

Luckily, Mr Helliwell managed to catch the vehicle's registration number and has now forwarded it onto the police who are investigating.

He added: "The football posts were up on the pitch so there's no excuse for whoever did this. They cannot plead ignorance that it was just a field. We will now have to assess the damage and how much it will cost to repair. Some of the indents are up to 30cm deep. It's disgraceful."

Anybody with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.

This sort of thing is, unfortunately, becoming more and more common. I've seen a number of incidents reported on Twitter over the past year. The kicks some idiots get..

Whoever did it, should be ordered by the court to pay for the repairs. I don't imagine it will be cheap, so may have to sell the 4x4.
They should also be banned form driving for a few years.

He should stick the number plate on social media - someone will know and name and shame the prick.

Then let vigilante justice run its course.

Making the idiot pay the fees all the kids players paid to join leagues, damages ... and I'm pretty sure Forest have annual tournaments which raise money - he should have to recompensate monies lost from not being able to do that.

He'll be leaving doughnuts in his undies when he had to stump up to cover all that.

What a pr-ick. He should be done for criminal damage and made to pay for all the repairs and also receive some community service.
Should also get points on his license for dangerous driving.

He's got a 4x4 so take that off him when he no doubt pleads poverty.

**Class warfare alert!**

**4X4 Alert!**

Before you go rushing to judgement, may I point out that you can buy a Range Rover for less than £1500 and other "4x4's" for a lot less.
Why do you think it's some gentleman farmer or such with a gripe over the local community?

If it was a woman, then her husband / boyfriend / partner is still to blame for allowing her to drive the car in the first place.

Mindless, senseless wanton damage by the sound of it.

'If it was kids on motorbikes I could understand it'. Well I'm sorry but I wouldn't 'understand it'.

As for the 4x4 driver, criminal damage is about the only law he has broken so if caught he can't get a ban. Unless of course he is banned already which seems to be a common theme on these fly on the wall documentaries.

Do they still play cricket at Pendle Forest? Always enjoyed playing up there in the Craven League, but they went from 3 teams to 2 to 1 and then pulled out of the League. I hope they are managing to play a few games, even if only friendlies, and eventually get a team together back in the League. There are far too many Clubs folding, 3 less sides, not Clubs, in the Craven League for this season coming.

What an absolute tool, though sounds more like the thing some young nob head would do rather than owt vindictive? Would anyone really trash a football field ?
Certainly a right old raft of offences when they nick him.
I used to play for a Salford team and I wouldn’t even like to think what would have happened to the driver if somat like that had happened . Let’s hope the mindless act has a little karma attatched

I've moved out of the area so not playing this season. They play on Thursday nights in the Ribble Valley midweek league. 15x8 ball overs, good little league, not too serious & some very picturesque grounds at the likes of Bolton by Bowland and Chatburn.

Great set of lads, and some very decent players such as Ian Bythell. Also play some 40 over stuff such as Village knockout but mainly just friendlies.

To think an adult with such a low IQ can somehow amass an amount of money, sufficient to purchase a Range Rover. What is the world coming to!

May his fine and public outing empty his bank account and end his wish to live locally.

Certain factions of society, centered in Brierfield and Nelson, club together then lease high/spec motors, usually for Sunday Racing on the M65 but also for other pleasures.

So just how is this relevant to a 4 x 4 , (possibly low spec and old), chewing up some playing fields in Wheatley Lane / Fence?
Just wondering.

These are the same 'factions of society' who the UTC jury decided was to blame for the fatal crash at the Prairie last year. Turned out it was two old people crashing into each other.

Not sure of that 'certain faction' being into Range Rovers. Thought they were more into German bling cars, or maybe their tastes are changing?

I'm mean and clean Zizkov. I've been running on the low of mass media cultural psychosis for the past few week, plus internal stuff going on in the house (bedsit land grief from tenants landlords and letting agents.) Another inspection for 'valuation purposes' (3 in a few months.) I'm scared they are looking to do an insurance job or bump me off.

It chimes with a mental. health condition of hearing voices all the time and seeing stuff. It's very difficult to keep silent in that situation so I make a lot of noise and naturally being Northern in a Southern town, they don't like. Basically, they don't like me down here and in the building.

I was coming up the Padiham by pass last Monday at ~ 20:30 and saw a dark coloured crew cab 4 x 4 in front of me turn into the sports club. Thought it a bit strange at the time as it was so dark for someone to visiting the premises. I then thought, well there are stables/ allotments down there so may be just the farmer. Obviously if it was definitely a Range Rover then the crew cab has nothing to do with it.

Not for me, I've got other things to do. This building I live in with nine others is a nightmare. I have to put my single matterss on to the floor every night because there's a toilet the other side of the wall. People come into my flat and mess stuff around, it's like being in a boarding school at 56. It really is awful. Kent has fallen to the Germans. To think of the allied losses only for the establishment to allow an invading force of 20 million to rule us after, whilst the cream of English talent is catapulted to obscurity...
