Could result in up to 1,800 job losses. Given that the rationale for pulling-in low paid EU workers was to staff low paid jobs like these which our kids won't consider, what happens now? Do these unfortunate ones go back to their European homes or stay here and draw benefits?

I blame mediocre overpriced food

I blame the escalating greed culture of the Western World - sod all to do with Brexit. The only remote correlation is a result of the fiddlers rigging the exchange rate low in order to line it up for a kill. You know, all those talented people we can't live without.
Anyway, what happens to the people displaced?????

The high streets up and down the country are now saturated with coffee shops, something as to give.

The likes of Jamie Oliver make money doing programmes where they say its so cheap to make x pasta dish, then they expect people to spend 15 quid on the same grub in some former bank with shite service.

In the town where I live, there are an increasing amount of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, takeaways etc. The odd one closes but more open than close.
In the last 12 months, I think 1 small cafe & one Chinese have closed. The Chinese is now a curry place + we've had open: KFC, Burger King and a Patisserie Valerie - all in the main shopping centre. Also we've now got an eat-in Greggs to add to the several take-away Greggs.
This sector is doing well, the number of people employed making/serving/delivering must be growing.
Maybe eating out proper is losing out to KFC, Greggs etc. There are still enough places open to fuel our Kingdom's obesity problem for a while yet.

Patisserie Valerie is bloody ridiculous

Quite honestly, there are far too many take-aways and sit down food establishments in this country. Obese Britain is here.I'd like to see 75% of them shut down.

The market will do that for you, but maybe not 75%. Restaurant Britain is already oversaturated and has reach breaking point. I can see the same happening with craft beer bars in a couple of years time.

Competition. Saturation point. People are fed up with average restaurants like Jamie Oliver's masquerading as something decent.

This is an entirely separate, and serious issue, worthy of its own thread.

For me it's a hanging offence. Thankfully, the slate or lump of wood fad seems to be dying out.

THe minimum wage has made things bloody tight for the multiple chains , not to mention total saturation of the mid market , likes of Prezzo pizza express Zizzi , carluccious,through to the god awful Frankie n bennys Pizza Hut Bella pasta etc and that’s just “Italian”

I’d hazard a few of these trendy burger bars will also go to the wall

Then what happens to the ex-staff?
