Penny for Keane’s Thoughts

Moved in the summer to a ‘bigger club’ to enhance his career, etc.
Burnley now 7th in premier league as we go into April, above Everton who we beaten home and away. Tarkowski, who replaced him is now in England reckoning for World Cup whilst Keane is out of it after breaking in last year.
Penny for his thoughts today.

Long term he will be better off, Everton were just in disarray after poor transfers and the manager seemed to lose the plot.

Next season things will be back to normal I suspect and Keane will be able to get back into England reckoning.

It was the right move for him, and Burnley. The fact it hasn't worked out is a shame for Keane, who was immense for us.

He's young enough to bounce back, and too good to be down for long. Once FS has realised Williams is the problem, he'll be Tarks biggest competition for that England spot.

I texted someone last night with the same message.

Keane looks a shadow now of the player who was at Burnley and he was really poor on the Turf recently, unable to cope with us. Looks as though there is likely to be another managerial change at Everton in the summer so he probably chose the wrong club at the wrong time.

I rate Keane but the way Tarkowski has stepped up this season means we just haven't missed him at all.

This was my concern on the Ben Mee and money thread.
I think Everton will come calling. They are desperate for a left CB.

That's another scenario - Keane plays well alongside Mee, Tarkowski plays well alongside Mee.

You could buy his thoughts for a penny now .Last July to speak to him would have cost you considerably more

It does make you wonder just what Keane will be thinking right now I think one thing is certain he knows the real value of working alongside Ben Mee.

I think playing with Ashley Williams each week hasn't helped him either.

It's not just Mee he'll be missing, it'll be Dyche as well. He's got a proven record for us of getting the absolute best out of the players at his disposal. Whether it's Arfield, Jones, Barnes, Ward, Lowton, Westwood, Barton, Pope or Keane (and I'm sure there's others), Dyche has managed to prove doubters wrong. All those players came with little or no backing from the supporters of their previous club - they were all limited players in one way or another. Didn't Keane come to us after a poor performance for United in the League Cup at MK Dons? Dyche is pretty much the best example of man management in the game today. Tarky might be the next to move on if he's successful for England but I'm pretty sure he'll think twice before jumping at the first opportunity. He's improved massively under Dyche, as did Keane, and I'm sure the players can see that just as much as the supporters can!

Keane's just rubbish, Mee and the defensive system made him look good. Tark is twice the player, Allardyce knows how to organise a team defensively and he doesn't rate Keane and after the shocking performance on the Turf recently, you can see why.

Sure Keane is gutted with the season he's had. However he seems a sensible guy and so must have considered it was a possibility, Everton have been wobbling around ever since Martinez left if not before. He must have seen it as a roll of the dice worth taking; like all gambles some you win most you lose. Keane will come good again under the right tutelage... though it may already be too late for that to happen at Everton as the next manager will need the fans behind them and excited from day one and many will see Keane as part of the problem, and with money to burn I can see the likes of Dawson, Evans, Maguire and no doubt half a dozen European's being targets in the summer.

We’ve missed his goals

How do you know BFS doesn't rate Keane?

I was waiting for you to respond ;)
Allardyce has left him out numerous times and reports suggested he wanted rid of him.

The only place I've seen that suggest he's getting dumped is from the Dream team email I get.

Every where else says otherwise.

The issue isn't Keane, but we already know you're not going to listen so we won't bother.

As for the Everton game at the Turf, Ashley Williams was far more of a liability than Keane was. AW left Wood unmarked for that second goal and his straight red on the elbow to Barnes was inexcusable. Paired with another decent CB, Keane will flourish again.

I think Keane was over-hyped at his time at Burnley, but is still very good player.

Stones was the same when he initally played for City.
He didn't have a regular CB partner due to various injuries so he looked a little out of his depth at times.
He started to look better when things settled down.

Same article in both links pretty much.

The issues aren't just Keane though, look at their midfield, it's a mess yet you continue to overlook that fact.

Schneiderlin is shocking this year compared to what he was like at Southampton.
They've had no one defending from the front.

The defence has been left exposed along with Pickford.

They've had injuries to key players and Williams looks like his legs are pretty much gone, or his head is.

So basically it's everyone fault Keane is crap, the only person not to blame is Keane himself....

Or we can just blame Keane for everything including the end of life as we know it...

There is a middle ground if you're interested in it, which you generally aren't.

He hasn't helped himself at times, but he's had not a lot of help from those around him, it is a team game after all.

Hope things turn around for the lad. He was tremendous for us, no matter who he played alongside.
He's never said a bad word about BFC, only what a great club we were to be at.

And we got a whacking great fee for him when he left, so good luck to him.

Certainly doesnt deserve slagging off as "crap".

Seems a decent swap , Everton need back up for Pickford who’s far too small for a keeper

I'd say Keane is likely to be at Everton a lot longer than fat Sam.

Its not really what he’s saying. Keanes performances may have dipped but it doesnt help if your teammates have as well.

Baines, Williams and Jagielka are nowhere near where they were 2 years ago. Coleman coming back from injury is yet to get to his best. It makes a massive difference.

Stones came through when Everton were a very solid team so he settled quickly and performed.

Keane came through when Burnley were a very solid team and so on.

They’ve both moved to where they struggled but will both succeed. Im sure players like Terry, Ferdinand, Vidic would struggle when the other 75% if the defence is well past it.

None of the top seven clubs whoops top six went for him, perhaps their scouts /coaches don't rate him that highly without Mee to guide him and Dyche to mentor him.
