Thought Jay looked too bulky - hell of a lot of muscle on him now

His injury shouldn't make any difference. Both Vokes and Barnes had similar and are now far better players since.

Perhaps it was a case of a couple of very good seasons at Southampton and he's now just performing at his correct level.

He left us when we were a midtable championship side. He was good for us at that level and had a lot of potential. But we are so far ahead of where we were then.

Would take him over Vokes at the minute, Vokes looks like he's got very, very heavy boots
Jay looked mobile and took up some good positions
Confused about the song though, we had just scored.

You certainly wouldn’t swap either Wood or Barnes for him on current form.

Absolutely Not, but for Vokes or Walters in a heartbeat.
He'd improve under Mr Dyche, and I don't think he Did too bad today considering.

What makes me laugh is how much Burnley fans slag Gray off. The man who fired us to promotion, helped keep us up and made us 10 plus million profit. Yet sing the name of an opponent who also left us.

As much as I like Jay Rodriguez, and how good he was for us in the Championship, I wouldn’t want him back now. We need to be bringing the Next Jay Rodriguez on, either through our own System, or by shopping around wisely.

I doubt he’d come here to sit on our bench, though, which is exactly what he’d have to do.

We'd need options though, we couod play 50+ games next season.
If Barnes or Vokes gets injured, there's nothing behind them that look capable of scoring regularly.
I also think he can play about 2 or 3 positions which is good.

Anyway, whoever we get will need to work hard to knock these 2 from starting

Got an England call Spijed and was playing at his best..injuries affect people in different ways I was just saying he not the same player, where as Barnes has got better after his,it's just sad for Jay that he's now back as a Championship player, another nudge to our current players...the grass isn't always greener.

WBA will be selling several players at the end of the season. Maybe Jay will want to "come home" and be guided back to his best by Sean Dyche?

If we have Marney and Bardsley on the bench today (I know they are there for different positions) and Walters getting back to fitness, maybe Jay has got something to offer the squad - with a lot more expected of the team next season.

Would he want to return? Would he take a salary drop if the reported wages WBA players are on ? For me he isn't good enough for a top half Prem team.

Don't forget WBA are saying that there's "no money for wages." What's a contract worth if the club that holds it is relegated and hasn't got the money to pay you?

The brain is still there and some of his movement and positions he took up around the box were lovely, but he seemed a bit ponderous to me. Perhaps as a second striker in a 442, but I'm a bit doubtful he has the 'snap' which would warrant a significant outlay on him.

Is he better than Wells? Yes.
Would he improve our squad? Yes.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he made over 125 appearances for the club and is a Claret himself??

Was at the match today and got talking to a Baggies fan
who reckon Jay is on 70k a week.

So if we were after another forward and I suspect we will be then
we could probably get him given his slary is likely to drop by 50% if he stays
but also feel we will go for someone else instead.
Who that is I don't know but possibly Dyche will give Wells a run out to see if he can prove
he's premiership class. If not then he'll be on his way, me thinks.

At his best, he was in the England reckoning. Would absolutely get back to that level under Dyche.

He is the only WBA player I would be slightly interested in, when they get relegated. The rest of them, nah.

Wouldn't touch him due to his injury record and inconsistent form.
Had he not been an ex player I doubt anyone would be remotely interested.

He isn’t better than Rondon. And Jonny Evans is a better back up than Long.

Jay Rod was poor today sad to see, a backwards step if we signed him.

I'd have Rondon in a snip. The way we play would suit him to a tee - I love Barnes but see Rondon as a bit of an upgrade to him.

In a poor side.

Why?

Rondon isn't a regular goalscorer, we'd be better off keeping Barnes.

Rondons records better than Barnes'.

Rondon has the raw pace that Barnes doesn't as he showed with the straight race with Lowton today. He has the same knack as Barnes for getting goals out of nothing and seems like he has the Bartonesque drive to win a game which would fit our side well.

Also, if he came here - I have no doubt Barnes would end up scoring 20 a season just to keep Rondon on the bench

9-8-6 so far in Rondons last 3 PL seasons for league goals in 102 appearances.

5-6-6 so far in Barnes last 3 seasons for league goals in 92 appearances.

Barely anything in it especially when Barnes was mainly a sub last season.
For the money it would cost to get Rondon he's hardly an upgrade on Barnes.

You'd also expect Barnes to finish the season with more goals than Rondon.

No thanks.

A similar number to promotion winning captain, and rovers slayer Jason Shackell.

I don't like the way he left, not something I would expect from a local lad. I don't think he's been great for a while but I'd have him back because I believe if Dyche got him into the best shape of his career and motivated he could be very good for us.

(Yes regardless of the stupid s**t I said the other week to get a reaction)

Dyche, Keane and Jay Rod all refusing to sign your autograph book?

Maybe it’s the way you ask?

At least Jay Rod seems to be on the road to forgiveness.

He has a football brain and can also play wide. In the box with his heading ability....goals.

Europe starts early and demands much. Sign gmhim on.
