There goes any chance of a clean sheet if Mee is injured.

What's up with them? Article quite short and sweet.

I know it's been discussed already, but wow, what a decision the Manager has... pull Pope and damage his England World Cup chances or keep Tom on the bench and damage his own and probably last World Cup chance. Dyche, I am sure, will probably only be thinking about Burnley FC, but who knows what is best for us... neither deserve to be on the bench for these last few (but important) games...

Against teams from the top 6, we haven't kept a clean sheet whoever played. Against teams outside the top 6, Long has played 6 games with 3 clean sheets and 3 total goals conceded.

4 of them games was in place of Tarky. Mee was still playing.

Personally don` think it is a `decision` at all. Pope has been outstanding since Heaton`s injury and will not be dropped. If he was (which he won`t) it would go against the mantra of `the shirt is yours until you lose it` which seems to be at the heart of Dyche`s team/group ethos. Saying that, Taylor was excellent and growing into his left-back role but Ward eventually got `his` shirt back.
Alas, I fear it`ll be Pickford, Butland and incredibly Hart (if they want his experience, just give Hart an `ambassador` role a la Beckham) on the plane to Russia.
One hell of a decision to make though for Dyche at the end of the season as I don`t see both Pope and Heaton with us next season. Both of `em are Top 7 Premier League keepers

Ben Mee has missed two games this season - Watford and Stoke at home - we kept clean sheets in both.

There is no way that he will drop Pope. And rightly so even though Heaton is the better keeper and captain.

Heaton is just going to have to wait until pre season then battle it out with Pope for the number 1 spot. As for Saturday with Mee and JBG doubtful in Dyche speak usually means not a cat in hells chance of playing.

No reason whatsoever for Pope to be dropped. Performing magnificently.
And Kevin Long will do his customary efficient fill-in.(if required)
Yes, a couple of goals could be laid at his door when he's played, like losing his man at
Newcastle (i think), but overall he's done a good job. No-one's claiming he's another Mee or Tarks.
We'll be fine.

I honestly don't think we've missed Heaton's captaincy.
For a GK he's a good captain, but I'd prefers an outfield player and Mee has more than stepped up.

He says Mee is "doubtful", bill.
Thats usually manager-speak for injured.

If there is no Mee who will be captain ? Pope should keep the shirt too.

It wasn't Newcastle because that was a penalty when Bardsley fouled Kenedy on the far edge of the box.
Long has done a good job when called on as far as I am concerned although, at a pinch, we could bring Tom in and use Nick's height at centre back!

I would guess at Cork or perhaps Ward.
That said Westwood captained Crewe and sometimes Villa at a young age. We have plenty of leaders throughout the team.

My thoughts exactly! Won’t sign then fair do’s. Need to start looking to replace methinks. Will be a sad loss, but cannot have players bigger than the club.

People really think this? And even more so, are ready for us to move him on without any evidence that he isnt happy?

But wasnt that penalty saved? Lascelles scored for them, ours went down as an own goal.
Im sure that was the match Kevin Long lost his marker for their goal, could be wrong, though.
But Pope definitely saved the peno.

It think it’s possible given that our manager has said more than once recently that he is ‘not concerned’ that Mee has not signed a new contract. He could go for free at the end of next season. I hope this clears up my perfectly rational belief. He may be injured, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. Anybody else wanting to question what is my opinion, I hope this explanation helps a little. No long lists of follow on snowflake comments. Cheers.

I'm surprised you would think SD that childish and amateurish. Seventh place and Europe are up for grabs. We go strong all the way.

Electro --you are correct. It was the first game I saw this year after suffering a bad head injury ----I should have got the brain in order! Thanks for putting me right.

Correct Electro, penalty at Newcastle was saved but Long lost his man when Lascelles headed in from a corner.
Ashington comes from a pit village and has no head for heights up in the Gods at the Leazes end!

Ben Mee and SD far too professional to play silly games ,though the Mee fan boys seem hysterical that he may move on and we’ll simply replace him .Id be sad to see him go but if he does we quickly move on .

Haha Clegg --except I was sat in with the Toon fans ---the advantage of living in a pit village and supporting Burnley.
It is a good job that I can just enjoy a game without getting too involved these days and can sit in an area nearer to the pitch!

Wasn't it about this time last year where Mee {and Keano)suffered a very unpublished injury and we finished the season with a makeshift back 4? Move on the cards?

If they are 'doubtful' there's a chance they might play, if they are 'touch and go' we probably won't see them again this season

April fool's story or fake news as it's also known as. No transfer request, just Ben turning down a contract offer - it's called negotiation. His fitness for Saturday has nothing to do with it.

It's alright, we've got Ireland international Long who can partner England international Tarkowski in the centre of our defence. Who'd have thought that 5 years ago?
