Any Claret cyclists registered for this? 5,000 riders, on the same route as the last 40-odd miles of the final stage, finishing by crossing the race finishing line.

I signed up for the long route (80 miles) but have struggled to get many miles on this year due to the weather and family responsibilities. I might end up getting caught by the peloton!

I’m doing the Spring Norfolk Sportive in a few weeks. Less hills! I can imagine yours will be pretty tough? It’s given my food for thought though. Maybe a weekend up north needs to happen.

When I were a lad. Finished me homework had me tea, set off on the ten speed and cycled from Brunshaw Road, up the hill and on to Brierfield, on to Blacko and then to Gisburn, round to Clitheroe, through to Whalley and home via Padiaham and Gannow top and back in time for Corrie on a regular basis.

Now live in Norfolk and no such challenge awaits !

I was cycling behind a cyclist last week and the difference it made was astounding. I can understand the power of the peleton and why Alan Shearer needed a dedicated team around to complete his sponsored whatever it was.

Only managed a couple of sixty plus km this year due to the weather, and lost my chain and derailer yesterday going down a hill.

Hoping to get back into it, but strictly a family cyclist to be perfectly honest

Brings back memories of many years ago having a couple of pints in the Turkey after long rides then riding up the cobbled hill with what then seemed to be someone else's legs

The extra day and hill-top finish at Ilkley will add an extra dimension to the race as it was really just a glorified one-day race with two sprint finishes and the GC decided on the third stage.

The 4th day is going to be an absolute nightmare. Starting in Halifax, Hebden Bridge, over Cock Hill, Goose Eye, Skipton, up the dales and, not even half way through Park Rash at Kettlewell. It tires me out driving up it! Then into Wensleydale, a big loop round to Greenhow before finishing in Leeds. I think they are calling it the Yorkshire Terrier and you can see why. I will be watching in Skipton, and if it is anything like last year so will half the town.

Do they go up Main Street in Haworth?

I think it goes through Haworth on the fourth stage which is Sunday. The route goes from Halifax through Hebden Bridge to Keighley so pretty sure it will go through Haworth.

Going into Richmond for the stage start with ColburnClaret with an outside chance of making it to the finish in Scarborough. Love cycling.

Yes they do go up Haworth Main St, but get there early if that's your viewing area as it gets quite busy.

Aye, great spectacle. Otley and Ilkley really are national cycling hubs. Just been watching the ride up Old Poole Bank. Sometimes go running round there. One of the worst roads I know for potholes. They’ve all been filled in

Certainly are. Great crowds out for the women's race this morning too.

Does wonders for the local area, the sheer number of visitors to the area will have put some serious money in the tills, and even better when it nudges the local councils into spending too!
