Steven Defour

Post by Lancasterclaret » Tue Apr 24, 2018 9:42 am

Belgian journalist who broke the story that we were signing him is tweeting that we are taking up the one year extension in his contract.

Good news!

Great news - a class act, I think he will relish a European adventure.

Hopefully we can have a full season of him next time as he is just fantastic to watch, for me he would be on course for POTS if he had stayed fit.

Awesome news.

Why the daily mail haven’t got the back 17 pages plastered with this I’ll never know...

Seriously tho, it’ll be like two excellent new signings next year with d4 and Brady back.

So does this mean next year and the year after? Think his contract was until the end of 2019 as it stood.

ie until the end of the 2020 season?

It'll be like having a new player.
Same with Brady.

Great times. :)

I never thought i'd love any Burnley player in my lifetime more than Blake, Defour's quickly become my favourite ever player for us.

What do I know, anyway, but what I think singles him out is his ability to bring the ball instantly under control, see a pass, and play it perfectly weighted, and do it every time. It's the consistency that distinguishes a great player.
Okay, now you can slag me off for stating the bleeding obvious...

The mark of a great midfielder is the ability to create time for himself and then make the pass which cuts through a defence.

Defour has that, as well as what you list Chekhov.

His goal against Hull one of my all time favourites. The piece of skill to take out two Hull players was sublime and then to cap it off with a wonderful finish was sheer brilliance

He's only scored 3 goals for us (I think) and each one has been a thing of beauty.
His free kick at Old Trafford.
Oh yes.

Thanks for that, Moorite, it saves me from searching for it. You can tell how good it it with the crowd. Instead f the usual shouting and baying, it quickly turns to pure applause.

Defour wonders why we love him in that article. 1) He's class 2) We're kin grateful he's playing for us
