Great news....Steven is obviously a player that needs to feel the love of the fans and loves to hear the fans chanting his name...
Its great when players want to commit to our club...Dyche has set a great example by commiting to the club long term.
Am really surprised (if the rumours are true) that Ben wants to move on.Surely he must be one of the highest paid in the squad and he is certainly a fans favourite.Fingers crossed he will sign a new deal.I just wonder if Ben was upset that Tarks got an England call up and felt overlooked and thinks he may have a better opportunity by changing clubs?

Changing clubs won't help his desire to play for England, Southgate has seen enough of him to know if he wants him.

But what club, if true, could he go to that would give him that opportunity?
I cant see any of the top 6 going for him to be honest, and even if he did move, as we've seen from the last two big moves from us, it doesn't always work out as planned

He seems to have settled with us and a small part of that will be his popularity with the fans. I don't think he was popular with the fans of his previous club so he must be enjoying his cult status with us.

Anyway, he's a quality player and it's credit to Dyche, staff and team that we haven't missed him quite as much as we could have. Sounds cheesy but having him back will almost be like a new signing (Brady too!).

I totally agree Sidney...I just wondered if Ben felt a move may benefit him...Ben is the one player who I felt would be really happy at Burnley.I will be surprised if he does not sign a new contract.

I don't think the whinging is exclusively a trait of a few Evertonians/Scousers - the fans of the other twelve clubs below us won't exactly be overjoyed.
Unless, of course, it was just another silly Hillsborough dig.

What is it that makes the rumours about Mee any less reliable than the ones about Stones that you posted on the other thread?

I've never stated I'm in the know about any rumours, some on here do and possibly have done about Mee from another comment.

I also stated they're surfacing about Stones, a player who's no longer first choice and probably won't be next season either so it would be logical that he would potentially want to move on or City want to move him on like they did with Mangala when they realised he wasn't up to the job.

Mee is first choice, captain for majority of the season and could potentially be playing European football with us next season.

Different scenarios but I get what you're trying to say when I question validity of rumours about Mee.

Spot on. You get the impression sometimes that fans of 'bigger clubs' just erase their recent memories when it comes to teams like us.

Why would any Everton fan think they should be above us when we've done the double over them, passing them off the park with a goal at Goodison.

If I was old enough I could say, 'how the hell are we behind Manchester City, United and Liverpool?!'

Living in Liverpool is not an excuse to think it's still 1985

And they don't have a player as good as Steven Defour by the way

The only 'big club' fans that don't have (until recently at least) that kind of arrogance are City fans. I always found them to be fairly grounded given their many years in the doldrums, including their 'third division years'. They always used to be quite philosophical about their under-achievement and often made fun of it (see the Gallagher brothers). This may have changed with all the money and success given that I would probably be the same if we had what they've got.

I think his settling is due to him being in the team on a regular basis prior to the injury. He had loads of problems at his previous club Anderlecht because he'd played for their rivals.
