13 years ago today (a significant first); 24 years ago yesterday (the interval act that stole the show)
Two pretty significant moments.
Thirteen years ago today, Messi scored his first goal for Barcelona. I’ll be honest, I recognise the goal each time I see it, bust must admit, i didn’t even look twice when it first happened. What a career...

However, 24 years ago yesterday, during the half-time interval at Eurovision, Riverdance was shown to the world for the first time. It had received scathing reviews initially, but Michael Flatley kept developing it and eventually produced a masterpiece which, as a direct result of that performance, went on to Broadway permanently from there on. It was the highlight of the night and completely stole the show. Unlike the Messi goal, I remember watching this vividly. I’d been out and missed all of the ‘acts’ but decided to tune in to Terry Wogan calling in the results and belittling other nations in s way only he could. Before that though, we were hit with Riverdance and the rest, as they say, is history...

I thought the half time act was going to be Swankypants.

I’m disappointed to have read all that and not a mention of the Swankypants Dog Troupe with accompanying never-before-seen footage

I reckon if we make the semis of the Europa then we should invite them back to the home leg, just for old times sake!

20th Anniversary of that dark day next year. Anyone know if the club will be holding a memorial vigil or something?TheFamilyCat wrote:I thought the half time act was going to be Swankypants.
