After last night's game, it's looking pretty good. The winner of Winnipeg-Nashville will take the Cup.

Some of you guys need to get out more. Expand your horizons. There's a whole new world the other side of Bacup.

The whole city (of Winnipeg) is up for this and behind the Jets (the hockey team - who play their hockey on ice). I’m mindful of explaining what needs to be explained.
Winnipeg is a Burnley of the NHL. A place nobody likes, and small enough to have lost their club (like Wimbledon did) back in the ‘90s to a bigger city. Rather than a simple home and away, the teams play up to seven games to decide who goes through to the next stage, and last night Winnipeg came back from 3-0 down to win the third game. The series is now at 2-1 for the Jets. Their current opponents are the best team in the league (the Jets are number 2 I think), so if they get past them they stand a good chance.

The skyline's not looking so rosy for Nashville.

Having friends in Winnipeg and having visited the city on several occasions I'm certainly rooting for them
I have seen the Jets play but it was the old Jets before they were franchised out and then returned to their true home.

The "old Jets" are the team that plays in Phoenix, Arizona these days. They've become a dumpster fire, and are taking baby steps to become more competitive. Today's Jets were the Atlanta Thrashers. Hockey has failed twice in Atlanta. The first version became the Calgary Flames. And when I said that there's a whole new world beyond Bacup, I meant Rochdale, not Todmorden.

Nashville looked very good last night. Winnipeg needs to get Laine going. You don't usually win when your best player isn't producing. But Laine's so young. They say that you have to be there at least once before before you get over the "hump". Winnipeg has a lot of veteran players, and Paul Maurice
is one of the best coaches in the NHL. He's been there before. (He won with Carolina.) If anybody can find a way, he will.

It comes to down to a best of 3 now. Winnipeg has to win at least 1 of 2 in Nashville.

It's all over but the crying, now. Start etching the names of the Winnipeg players on the Cup right now.

Pittsburgh was put out by MY Capitals last night. Sid the Kid's name will never appear on the Cup again. Pittsburgh's in terminal decline. Winnipeg was beaten last night, but it could have gone either way. 50-50 who wins game 7 in that series.

Capitals will get beaten in 5 by Tampa. Golden Knights will come out of the west.
Not sure teams we've won back-to-back cups can be described as in terminal decline after one second round loss.

Hockey goes in cycles. Sid's now in his mid thirties, along with Malkin, and they miss Theo Fleury. Without a top draft pick, there's no real way to rebuild. It would be ironic if Vegas wins and Fleury is the only player with his name on the Cup this decade 3 years in a row. But I don't think Vegas will win. The winner of the Cup will be decided tonight, IN MY OPINION.

Jets were aided by the worst goaltending (Canadian term) that I've ever seen. But they were full value for the win, nevertheless. After my Capitals beat the Static Electricity, it'll be interesting for me. Heart with Caps, but brain says Jets all of the way.

Couple of things. Sid is 30, not mid-30s. Theo Fleury never played for the Penguins and retired in 2006. In any case a team with Crosby, Malkin, Brassard, Sheahan down the middle, plus a young goaltender who has won two Stanley Cups and only ever lost one playoff series is still going to be competitive next year.
Anyway, Vegas looking good at the moment and Tampa have tied up the series with the Caps.

Winnipeg facing elimination tonight, Capitals facing elimination tomorrow. How are your head and heart feeling?
