Knowing our luck he'll probably be more Mido than Salah

I think we will see a lot of Everton, Leicester and Burnley in the same link. We have become rumour bait for the sort of player looking for an upper middle prem team. Still it beats Hull, Middlesbrough and Burnley that was 2 years ago.

To be fair Mido at his best wasn't half bad

I don’t see Dyche altering his general policy to sign players already playing in the UK.
I don’t think he’s against signing players from overseas, but he’s big on “character” and he probably feels better able to get a handle on what players closer to home are all about through his existing network.
The prospect of a heavier workload for the squad next season may find us even less inclined to take punts.

The media know where we're looking to strengthen so any players who play in those positions will be linked.

He's said as much this week. He's so thorough in his approach to signings, needs to find the right characters and that is clearly much easier to do if he's signing players who have played in this country. That's important to him and that's what's got us where we are right now.

It does seem a huge part of how and why he signs players and you can't argue with the results. But does anyone know how the Defour transfer came about - seems a very unlikely signing for us on the face of it. Glad we did, obviously.

But to progress again we might have to take the odd punt from overseas - we need a quality player for the "10 role" and this player will not be cheap and will also not have played in the premier league.

Also much easier to get the core values across when people are able to receive or deliver information clearly.
Buying into the work ethic, core values, eating and bonding together is very important, and there's some who won't/can't buy into that for various reasons.
As with all good recepies, for best results, buy British where possible, and add a sprinkle continental flavour.

I agree and we already have the core apart from 2 overseas players so now is the time to have a really good look for some quality to improve our forward play

Dyche always says that it is more difficult to research a player who has not played in England but he will have done his Defour homework one way or another. We have strengthened in terms of European recruitment but we are not where he wants to be. We do try though, but it was Dyche who put a stop to the Kamil Grosicki deal at the last minute.
The quality of character, the strength of the dressing room etc. is so important to him and to the club. And it works.

Agree, we don’t want “ one bad apple” getting in the dressing room as it could be very disruptive.

Re the signing of Defour. I would guess Dyche would have had a long conversation with Alex Ferguson, about his pedigree when he had tried to sign him for Utd.

Hassan, known as Trezeguet, had 7 matches for Anderlecht in Defours final season there.
Until this season his goals record isnt great.

The tenuous link could be he played (all be it briefly) with Defour at Anderlecht?
Cannot (if reports are true about Bryan) see us looking for 2 left sided players.

If you go off what is in the press then will likely be "in" for every available (and some unavailable) left sided midfielder in the top 3 divisions of all the major European countries (and a couple of random Peruvians).

I'll be amazed if we only target one player per position. I'm fairly sure all football clubs put the feelers out with multiple targets in each position they are looking to strengthen.

of course, not a single player in the Man City or Liverpool team work hard, what with most of them being foreigners

They'll work hard if its a good football philosophy. Trying to persuade a talented foreigner to run their nuts off playing agricultural stuff is another matter.

When it gets to lots of players being linked with us - I'd love us to have a sniff at Emre Mor at Celta Vigo.
20 years old and has that Messi like ability to never be in control of the ball whilst being in total control of it and just bounce off tackles and lay the ball off.
