Europe Question

I'm a bit confused! If Liverpool win Champions league, Does that mean 5th placed Chelsea get Champions League place? If Arsenal win Europa, do they also get one? If so do Chelsea then miss out? Can we have six English teams in same competition?
What does this mean for us in terms of qualifying rounds?

I’m going out on a limb here, but I’ll say it now. Arsenal will not win the Europa League this season!

1. No.
2. Yes, but not likely to happen.
3. Chelsea already miss out.
4. No.
If the Champions League winner is already qualified for next year's Champions League, then the country concerned does not get an extra place.

Been rehearsed to death this.
Only 4 CL places so if a team outside the top 4 win it, then only the top 3 go through to CL. Cannot happen though.
Europa places are for Cup, League Cup and next down in the league - the cup places get redistributed if they cannot qualify for Europa.
So whatever happens top 4 this season will be in CL and next 3 in Europa. We are 7th so get the lowest ranked place (League Cup slot, thanks City). So we start in the Preliminary round. Even if Arsenal had won the Europa league UEFA confirmed that we would still get the League Cup slot by finishing 7th.
Finish 6th and we go to the Group stage - so beat Arsenal on Sunday and win v Bournemouth, and hope Arsenal cannot manage a win either v Leicester away or Huddersfield away.
Still lots to play for!

If Arsenal had won the Europa they would have been a 5th qualifier for the CL -as ManUre were last year.
If a team won the Champions League but had failed to qualify for the following season's competition they would be given a place in the competition which would be additional to the country's normal entry.
What the rules say is that a slot is awarded to the winner of the Champions League and the Europa League but if the winner of either trophy has qualified for the competition through their domestic league performance then those places are re-allocated using some UEFA formula.

That is all true. There are a total of 7 European slots and if you get an extra CL by winning Europa league you lose a Europa. However if the Europa league winner finishes in the top 4 you only get 4 CL places. I think thats what I meant.

England is only allowed to have 7 representatives in European competitions. In the unlikely scenario of English clubs winning both the Champions League and Europa League but having both failed to qualify otherwise, England would have 6 representatives in the Champions League but only 1 in the Europa League.
