“We had nothing to play for, and that really affects players”.
It’s been a fabulous season, but surely that statement cannot be right. What about the fans who paid their hard earned to travel? Not to mention wasting a gloriously sunny day watching disinterested players prepare for their holidays.
Embarrassing.

If that quote is correct then something is wrong. The players owe it to the fans if not themselves to give 100% effort every match. These players are on mega bucks and the majority of fans scrimp and save to travel away to support them ...many probably on less than 10 quid an hour.

Dyche doesn't need to rant like a deranged nutter it his not his style. He made his point and expressed disappointment but it was measured and that is why we are in Europe he knows the way the players work. I think we have been slightly jaded these last few games and this last game summed it up.

As Barnsey points out in article in the Times, SD is brutally honest. Pleased he said it how it is rather than the diatribe of most other managers.

Some deluded fans on here to think we could match Man City and United and be one of three teams to beat Arsenal at their place.
A team that on average (before yesterday) scores 2.72 goals per game and concedes 1.1.
Are we even on the same level as Liverpool and Chelsea who are the only teams to get a draw.
And even if we'd played as defensively as Newcastle managed in a 1-0 defeat, the overwhelming evidence is 2-0 or 2-1 defeats would have been good results against a team with a formidable home record.
No our real failure was not beating a lamentable Arsenal at home, a team that's only managed 3 away wins in 17 games.
At 5-0 it's understandable that there is some upset with the performance but to expect us to go there and get a result is arrogance, ignorance or a mix of both.

I think the thought was that if you had opened the ""Nothing to play for" - Sean Dyche" thread, you might have seen something relevant to your post. The mods don't expect you to scroll down dozens of pages, but that thread has been at the top since full time. They'll no doubt be merged soon.
