Thank your from an Arsenal-fan

Hi everyone. Arsenal-fan here who just wanted to say thank you for the way your fans contributed to a wonderful send off for Arsene today. From the guard of honour to your fans even joining in on "one Arsene Wenger" at one point you showed a lot of class. I`ve always thought well of your club and today made me respect Burnley even more. I know a lot of Arsenal-fans thought the same today. Congratulations on a wonderful season and again thank you for the class your fans showed today.

Thanks for the compliments Gooner, Any idea who your new manager will be?

Who knows. Have a feeling we will get relatively unknown. Doubt we`ll see the likes of Allegri or Ancelotti.

Not surprised you're in the mood to thank us!
But thanks for the post.

I think you could also thank the team for not bothering to turn up on the day?

I didn`t mind that, no.

Very unlike Burnely to defend like you did. Could understand if you`re a bit fed up with playing us actually ans before this you`ve lost in injury time and on aa couple of occacions thanks to some questionable refereeing decisions. But like I said, your supporters showed a lot of class today and you should be proud.

I’ve always liked the gooners......certainly better than Ken Bates Electric Fence fancy wine bar chums, and Alan Sugars “spurs are on their way to Wimbli” .......walked past the old Highbury today.......very strange to think what it used to be like......
Good luck Gooners.........be careful what you wish for!

Thanks, that`s nice to hear. It`s going to be very strange without Arsene. Absolutely love the man.

Thought a lot of the mini feuds we've had in the past were long forgotten today. There seemed to be a lot of mutual respect. Wenger deserved a good send off.
All the best to you, must be a strange feeling knowing he won't be there next season.

Something that is of interior quality or rubbish.

Comes from "bobbins of cotton" i.e. rotten.
Particularly relevant to Burnley.
N.B. not that Burnley is rotten but it has links with cotton.

I never thought I'd see the day when I was asked to offer applause for both Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger ahead of a game but that was very much the case yesterday. The applause for Ferguson ahead of kick off was right around the stadium and clearly very genuine from both sets of fans. The ovation Wenger received from our supporters was touching and reflected the contribution he's made to English football.

Most important question to ask is:
Did any Burnley fan wear the tshirt that they put on the seat?

No t-shirts on the away seats.
There might have been a few thrown our way in response to the "you're only here for the t-shirts" chant.

Any genuine football fan can appreciate what Wenger has brought to the English game, shows the demands on the top six Arsenal have underperformed in the league, but have still reached a cup final and a European semi-final.

Maybe if Arsenal has played that well all season then Arsen would have stayed ?

Bobbins is a Manchester slang, certainly not lanky or Yorkie.

I must admit, I thought the "One Arsène Wenger" stuff was just taking the mickey out of the Arsenal fans.

We applauded Wenger, as that was the right thing to do at the start. Later on we were chanting ‘There’s only one Arsene Wenger’, at which point the Arsenal fans applauded us and this then gave us the opportunity to use the ‘ you two faced bast..ds , you wanted him sacked’ chant. It seemed to drive them nuts...I don’t know why. It was probably the highlight of the day really

It started with 'shall we sing a song for you' and the one chosen was the 'only one Arsene Wenger.' The penny didn't seem to drop with them that we were singing the song for them.

All the t shirts are XL so I'm sure they are only putting them on ebay cos they are too small.

But Manchester was once part of Lancashire (until late 60’s) so it definitely is Lancashire slang.
