Like last season when people suggested that Keane was missing at the end of the season because he was off. Pure mischief making that one.....

And some people on here, supposedly in the know, were absolutely convinced that Arfield had already left.

Probably about whether or not they want to potentially jeopardise any move away by risking an injury in a farewell appearance for us.

That makes sense karatekid, although I doubt they'd be on the pitch for too long.

I'd give Arfield a start tomorrow with how poor Lennon has been recently. As for Mee I feel if he was going to sign a new contract he'd have done it by now. We obviously aren't offering him what he wants.

Wood to be assessed if he does not make Vokes will play as said SD.
SD made said there reasons why Mee not playing.
Doesnt bode well for him being here next year.

It is a possibility that Mee might have a shin injury and SD just doesn't need to risk him when he doesn't have to. On the other hand all the rumours about him refusing to sign a new contract might be true and if they are then adios Ben because Burnley won't break their wage structure for him.

Let's be honest, we haven't got a clue about what Ben wants. JBG signing for three more years shows we had enough money to satisfy him. Although money is the key motivator for most people - regardless of their trade - quality of life counts as well. JBG said his family are happy here and, who knows, that might have meant a more lucrative contract elsewhere didn't tip the scales against us.

Ok so Arfield has been offered a 3 year deal at Rangers, will he risk getting injured.
No info on Marney.
Ben is rumoured to be asking for over double or current wage cap, so it’s bye bye Mee, unfortunately.

Does seem a bit of an exaggeration but if it's true then let's hope he does as well as Keane and misses out on European football. Looks like he might be another one who has become bigger than the club.

Ask fans of most other clubs what they think of Ben Mee and you may be surprised to find most will know nothing about him or what position he plays.
He has been brilliant for us but he isn't necessarily going to be a superstar elsewhere.

I suspect Dyche new 3.5m deal might have been a catalyst for
some players thinking they deserve more than they are getting.
I could be wrong.
I usually am.

The times this morning reporting exactly what I had heard about Ben Mee and vaguely put on here yesterday.
Sad really, I would want him to stay but not at £80000 a week.

80k a week is ridiculous, what on earth makes him believe he deserves that?

Both of those players are capped at England, and were a lot younger with a reputation for forward thinking football.

Do we know why either Marney or Arfield were not the involved. Were they injured or their new clubs stating they couldn't play ? If they were fit it is a bit disappointing.

That was high profile common knowledge. I have seen nothing connecting Mee to any club other than on here. Doom-mongers.

Because players no better are getting in excess of 100k. I don't agree at all with players wages in the PL but if it's the going rate then if you don't at some point start paying that going rate it will come back to bite you in the backside. There will come a time that Burnley, if they want to remain a PL club, will have to alter their wage structure, sad to say, it's simple economics. It doesn't matter whether you are a football club or a sales organisation or whatever, if you don't pay whatever is the accepted going rate to your employees you will find recruitment difficult and retention very hard.
I don't know if the rumours about Mee are true, I suspect they are simply just that, rumours, but if it is true then you can hardly blame someone for maximising their opportunities. Being a footballer is a job, nothing more, and a job with a short shelf life at that, and as such you have to decide what you are yourself worth, as in any job, and if you price yourself out of the market then that is your own fault but at the current stupid levels of pay in the PL 80k per week is not a lot to ask in the overall scheme of things. Having said all that we don't know if he has asked for that because it is a sad trait of the media now that that they often try to create the news rather just report it.
