Re: So how much will we get...
I have seen figures quoted at £118.9m and £122.6m why people cannot get it right I don't know - though the PL have yet to confirm the facilities fee for TV
to put it into context Everton and Newcastle will get more for appearing more on the box and Arsenal who finished 1 place above will get well over £20m more - Utd earn slightly more than city

How much do we spend on pre-season games? Maybe we can think of the first 2 Europa qualifying rounds as "extra" pre-season games.mdd2 wrote:Europa may cost us more than we get from the competition
How do all the small clubs from small leagues afford to enter Europa?

Re: So how much will we get...
In replay to post 7, there have been many threads on the Europa League and it puzzles me why their is a thought that it will be a cost for us to take part. Firstly clubs who qualify receive a payment, also further payments for winning and progressing and also nobody has even taken into account that gate receipts will be quite significant. If we estimated a 15,000 crowd, £20.00 for adults, £10.00 for concessions, average £15.00 inc vat, that would bring in £225,000 inclusive of vat. I would think that would cover all expenses for the away leg even allowing for giving the fat cats at EUFA their %.
For the Welsh and Irish entrants it is a god send, the £60,000 they get for being knocked out in the preliminary round is a major part of their budget. Bangor City who qualified but have been refused entry by the FA of Wales, think its a disaster!

From UEFA's own website:
"Each of the 48 clubs that feature in the group stage can expect to receive a group stage fee of €2.6m. There will also be performance bonuses of €360,000 for every win and €120,000 for every draw in the group stage. Moreover, qualification bonuses will be allotted to the teams that progress to the round of 32: the group winners can anticipate earning €600,000 apiece and the runners-up €300,000 each.
With regard to the knockout phase, sides competing in the round of 32 will collect €500,000 each, clubs in the round of 16 €750,000, the quarter-finalists €1m and the semi-finalists €1.6m apiece. The UEFA Europa League winners will pick up €6.5m and the runners-up €3.5m.
A team could receive, at best, €15.71m from playing in this season's competition – not counting the market pool share.
What is more, clubs participating in the qualifying rounds will be entitled to a respective payment of €215,000 for the first qualifying round), €225,000 (second), €235,000 (third) and €245,000 (play-off). Note, however, that the play-off winners will not receive the solidarity payment from that specific round."

It has to do with advertising though, doesn't it - how many potential advertisers will be falling over themselves to jump on a Burnley match - is there much interest in us elsewhere?Chester Perry wrote:well we know how much tv companies like to show us don't we

Re: So how much will we get...
its more the effect on the playing squad than the money form the competition which leads people to saying it might cost us more than we get out of it.
we're a very different fish in this particular pond to some welsh minnows. they're banking on a few games to account for a significant chunk of their budget for the year but not expecting to get very far.
we, on the other hand, will surely be looking to progress as far as we can whilst maintaining our PL place. that means we'll need a slightly larger, higher quality squad than we've currently got which won't come cheap in terms of both fees and wages. the europa league adds 6 games to our schedule before we even get to september - 12 before christmas if we make it to the groups.
even then, its cup football and we could quite conceivable be knocked out before the group stage. we just have to be careful to not bloat the squad, leaving us with too many players for not as many games.
its a fine balance.

Re: So how much will we get...
I'm rather hoping the favorable publicicity we've had this year, coupled with the lure of Europa League football, and the new Training ground should make us a more attractive option for prospective signings this close season !!
