Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!

Post by jdrobbo » Mon May 14, 2018 11:07 pm

Welcome to silly season everyone. Thank Goodness Dyche signed a lengthy deal recently, not that that’s worth much to Everton. If they want him, they’ll come knocking.

Given the early transfer window this time around I think the managerial clear out will be over by June 1st.
Everton, Leicester WHU Arsenal Chelsea and Watford all looking for new managers with Southampton and Spurs possibles too. Levy and Pochettino not singing from the same hymn sheet

I'm sure Everton fans would be very patient with SD's type of football. They were very poor before BFS went there.

It's possible that half of the managers in charge of Premier League teams last Sunday are under threat or gone (in the case of the first one).

Arsène Wenger - Arsenal
Antonio Conte - Chelsea
Sam Allardyce - Everton
Claude Puel - Leicester
Mark Hughes - Southampton
Paul Lambert - Stoke
Carlos Carvalhal - Swansea
Javi Gracia - Watford
Darren Moore - West Brom
David Moyes - West Ham

I'd like to think Southampton would stick with Hughes. His remit was to avoid the drop and he succeeded. Bringing in another foreign flair manager is totally the wrong thing to do given how they only narrowly stayed up.

I'd also hope that West Brom give Moore a chance. He's shown more than enough to earn a permanent deal.

I think Chelsea should stick with Conte. They need a bit of stability if they want sustained success.

Hughes would be unfortunate to lose his job but he does have a reputation of being a very poor man manager which might work against him. Conte will surely be gone, he's been writing his own exit papers for weeks now.

Moore is a strange one. I'd give him the job because he's done well. But I was watching TV last week, can't remember who the two were who were discussing it but they said he hadn't done any managing in this short space of time. He hadn't had to deal with re-signing players, getting rid of players, signing players, none of the stuff managers do. They said the only thing he'd done was give the players a lift after Pardew had gone. To be honest, I thought Pardew going was all the lift they needed.

I was expecting Moyes to stay at West Ham but there are enough reports in last 24 hours to suggest he'll be on his way.

Yep, looking like Silva for Everton, all over the papers.

Isn't he still in dispute with Watford for what he claims are "unpaid wages"?

There is no way that the Everton fans would want Dyche.

You try telling them how good a manager he is and the reply is along the lines of "he's not big enough for a club our size"

They weren't interested in Dyche last time and again they want Silva but he's in dispute with Watford who apparently haven't paid him a penny yet. They blamed Everton's interest in them having to sack him.

Silva claiming £750,000, according to the press.

Meanwhile, keeper coach Gerry Peyton is one of the casualties of Wenger leaving Arsenal

Yes he did, he made one of the greatest saves of the seventies (Burnley vs Liverpool-David Fairclough). He took over from Alan Stevenson.

He's been at Arsenal for a good number of years. Was certainly there when we played them in the FA Cup in Jan 2008. He'd previously been goalkeeper coach at Fulham.

Very happy with this. A second year for BFS with signings to fit his structure and they would be a bigger threat to us than Silva.
Other than Spurs or West Ham I can't see Sean Dyche being interested in the rest. I can't see the fans of either accepting Dyche.
The pasting at Arsenal and Eddie's win on Sunday may help too. Eddie would be more attractive to West Ham.

The poor man is trapped in Padiham for seventy grand a week.

The thing with money is you are prepared to put up with anything when you are short of it, mortgage, kids etc.
But when the bills are paid, and the kids grown, job satisfaction becomes far more important. I'd take a pay cut to go somewhere that I thought would be happier or better for me.
SD doesn't need the money, and I can't see it being a happier place to work than right here. SD IS however the sort to welcome a challenge, he wants to push himself, so EL qualification might have come at just the right time.

I would be a bit worried about Spurs - Dyche cpuld do a good job there. They need a strong character who will galvanise they "low acjeiving" team. They need a winner and i think Dyche's development of our side would fit following Poch.

And he has won stuff (not a major trophy granted but the Championship title is not to be sniffed at).

I'd imagine Chris Hughton would be a popular choice of manager at Spurs if Pochettino did go.
Well-loved ex-player, possibly only a season behind our Sean Dyche in terms of his achievements - two promotions from the Championship and stayed up with a game or two to spare.
If Poch had any genuine feeling of love towards Spurs, surely he couldn't go to Chelsea.

I'm not sure if Dyche would be too keen on the structure at Spurs where he doesn't have all the power.

Everton would really be ideal for him, a long-term rebuilding job with a club that's now got the finances to push on. I can't see them, and the fans, actually being patient enough for it though.

I don’t see how Dyche could succeed at a top 6 club if I’m honest. At Spurs how would he deal with types like Ali? Or any other premadona when things don’t go their way and the toys go flying? At other clubs how would he deal with foreign owners who want to decide who he should sign? How would he deal with the higher expectations? Dyches stubboness when it comes to changing things and substitutions might not work at a bigger club as well. Same with his ethos of only buying players if they fit his mould. Dyche fits us, and I struggle to see him fitting in at a bigger club who will want instant success. At this moment I just don’t see a move to a top 6 club working out for him, in a year if we do ok in Europe, he shows improvement on his stuboness when it comes to changing things and who he signs, then maybe.

What on earth did they expect with BFS? He’s done a fine job and they were genuinely slipping into deep sh1t before . Perhaps if he used some hair gel and changed his name to “Sam-uel - aller-dycio” he’d be a “ highly sort after successful premier league coach with great stats who works on smallish budgets”

Big and fat he may be but Everton fans should be kneeling at his feet. They were going down until he sorted out that awful defence.
Like him or not he has an excellent record and every club that has canned him has gone on a downward cycle.

Could be set for a fall, but I've long since stopped worrying about him leaving, even though it may be a disaster. Where would he go? Following the way fans responded to him being linked with Everton, I've no fears of him heading that far west. Maybe elsewhere but these foreign owners and his ways are not a good mix.

He will be here until he wants to leave. Could be a long time.

Sean Dyche to Spurs, seriously. Their football philosophy is about as opposite to SDs as you can possibly get. Not a cat in hells in chance.

Did anyone really expect Big Sam to be managing Everton next season? Brought in to steady the ship till the end of the season and will leave with 18 months pay. Done the job for them. As for where SD could go, who has a squad that would accept his style of management? Far too many prima donnas in most premier league teams who'd chuck their dummies out of their prams rather than learn from the ginger wizard.

Unlike many it seems I quite like Allardyce. He's had a pretty good managerial career and it is a pity he didn't manage England for longer - I would have liked to see how he would have done in those circumstances.

He had a job to do at Everton and he did it extremely well. He is capable of getting sides to play good football and if Everton stick with him and give him the resources I'm sure he can do that.

The thing about Allerdyce is that he is always asked to do the same job and so has become typecast, so to speak, unfairly in my view. Towards the end of his tenure at Bolton, it looked like the style of football was changing. I don't believe he is a one trick pony like Pulis, it's just that he's so good at the one trick we all know.

I'd assume so :D

Seems Everton & Watford are now negotiating - probably based on Watford's refusal to pay the compensation they owe to Silva.
