Choose your World Cup squad
Had a go on the World Cup squad selector on Sky Sports http://www.skysports.com/football/news/ ... ussia-2018" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It does worry me up front if Kane/Vardy get an injury!
Good to see what results everyone else comes up with, no doubt a few questionable selections.

Re: Choose your World Cup squad
Cahill in instead of Tarkowski apparently. Alexander-Arnold going too. English media playing the worlds biggest game of Guess Who with who isn't going instead of announcing who's actually going.

BBC Radio saying in the last hour that both Cahill and Sessegnon will not be going to Russia.
I would say that Pope is in there, and Tarkowski is very close..

Re: Choose your World Cup squad
I know its today but do we know what time its set to be announced?
I don't think I've ever been this interested in the potential squad as I am for this one

- approximately 1.00 pm.
Re: Choose your World Cup squad
1pm is the announcement I believe.
Re: Choose your World Cup squad
Alexander-Arnold will be the big surprise, Southgate likes Trippier and will accommodate him by playing Walker in the back 3, Alexander-Arnold is cover for Trippier.

Sky Sports News saying Leon Bailey could be in. Although they did also say he is 33/1 on Sky Bet...

Re: Choose your World Cup squad
Cork on standby or the internet on a mad one again?
Re: Choose your World Cup squad
Obviously, as many Clarets as possible. None of Tarks, Mee, Cork, Pope or Heaton would let England down. And why not Ash on the bench
Apart from that, I don't want too many "he can cover 2 or 3 different positions" type-players. Walker, Dier, Young, that'll do.
I want different from England this time. I want a team which can attack, has pace and movement. I don't want fear.
So, bring in some youngsters - Alexander-Arnold has been fantastic, Sessegnon, Loftus-Cheek, Lookman.
But most of all, pick Shelvey. Seriously, he is by far the best passer we have - and I don't mean the percentages, tidy, square-ball type. He creates chances, especially so for pacy strikers. Exactly what we need.

Re: Choose your World Cup squad
A reasonable opinion floating around is his passing isn't that accurate and his long passes don't really happen that often, plus his shooting misses more than it's on target.uwe wrote:

I haven't seen enough of him, but is he really that good apart from the bits you see on MOTD/SSN ?
Re: Choose your World Cup squad
I’ve seen a lot of him.
Yes, he is excellent.

Re: Choose your World Cup squad
So is his shooting accurate?
Are his passes? both short and long?
Or is it just because he takes the odd risk that might work occasionally?
How come you've seen so much of him then?

I actually reckon my England squad would go further than Southgates.

Yes he is. Volatile, sounds thick as sh1 t but passes the ball like pirlo from a deep quarterback position.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:A reasonable opinion floating around is his passing isn't that accurate and his long passes don't really happen that often, plus his shooting misses more than it's on target.

He doesn't get many assists as he tends to plop the ball onto Ritchie or kenedy who play the ball in to Joselu who misses or Gayle who falls over, sulimane who goes down injured.
What he needs is for Newcastle to have a vardy or Stirling with pace on the end of it. Just like England have. So great. Take a superfluous scouser full back instead. That'll work.
