Adama Traore a hell of a player, the kind of pace and craft we need...although I suspect he may not have the sort of attitude SD likes.

Ha ha. Look up the word irony. If you actually READ what I posted you would see that with a sense of the ironic I suggested we buy the WHOLE TEAM and get relegated, not 2 or 3 of them.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Ah right so signing them from the same team equals relegation. Very logic.

I knew we would be just like last season and the season before that and so on. No ambition. Still no signings. Disgusting. Dyche out, sack the Board.
So far at least 5 out and none in. Dreadful.

A promising right-back a la Tarkowski and Taylor (in THEIR respective positions).
Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Wasn't there paper talk about the Icelandic midfielder, Aron Gunnarsson, from Cardiff? He is out of contract this year so could be in talks with clubs. He is 29 and has 77 caps. Cardiff fans seem to be split on him but he should pick up our style easily enough after so many Icelandic caps. I have never watched him so no idea if he is any good.

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Gudmundsson connection might be a factor in any potential move for Gunnarsson, for a free agent we could sign far worse, Cardiff may offload some of their squad to free salaries squad places for new signings.http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/03/13/re ... gunnarsso/ strikes me as a Sean Dyche type of player don't know if he would start if Cork and Defour were fit but decent back-up for a nominal outlay.
Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Not a bad player Gunnarsson, I suspect a lot would be underwhelmed by him but he'd be a decent back up as an out of contract player.

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Am I correct in assuming we can only sign 3 players for our squad of 25 unless there are outgoings from the 22 (naming 3 keepers ) who will be in the 25 if they stay?
I think one of our problems is the quality of the players we have who are under 21.

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Well, Marney and Arfield would have been in the 22 no? Plus maybe Wells' spot if he goes. Garlick has already been quoted as saying he is looking for quality not quantity so that would fit imomdd2 wrote:Am I correct in assuming we can only sign 3 players for our squad of 25 unless there are outgoings from the 22 (naming 3 keepers ) who will be in the 25 if they stay?

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
The 22 are the present squad minus one of the 4 keepers we have and minus Arfield and Marney. Just look at UTC players section where I count 3 keepers, Lowton Bardsley Ward Taylor, Long Mee Tarks, Defour Brady, Lennon, Hendrick, Westwood,Cork, Gudmonsson Barnes Wood Wells Vokes, Walters.
Just 3 slots left

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
3 slots left , I’d look at replacing Bardsley for a younger upgrade.Let Wells go and replace him with someone who would go straight into the starting eleven - the no.10 type perhaps.mdd2 wrote:The 22 are the present squad minus one of the 4 keepers we have and minus Arfield and Marney. I’d also let Walters go and replace him with a younger player, any position, not necessarily an attacker.
Personally I think the 3 fresh slots should be taken by a new Centre Half, younger central midfielder and one more winger.

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
All this with replacing our older pros with inexperienced players will get us relegated. Why on earth would we want to get rid of a top pro like Bardsley who is rarely injured and has tons of Premier league experience.
We brought in Taylor from Leeds who did OK, although he would not have played out a full season due to his lack of experience at this level, next season might be different.
New players need grooming in to the Dyche way, they rarely hit the ground running

McLean probably. He was whispered previously.

I think we all know the answer to the title of this thread. We’ve been Burnley fans long enough.
In about a months time Robbie Brady and Steven Defour will be announced as like having two new signings.

Two older pros, that’s all Walters who was injured all season and Bardsley Who started off quite well, however was caught out on many occasions before Lowts came back in.Top Claret wrote:All this with replacing our older pros with inexperienced players will get us relegated. Bardsley is fine as cover. Full back is probably the last position we need to be looking to strengthen for me.

mirror Reporting this afternoon that Bryan from Bristol is set to sign shortly.
Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Lascelles is young, quality and a leader. And he would improve under Dyche. Be a great signing even if Mee went ( which I think he will )
Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
As I said weeks ago, Jay Rod is all agreed in principle however I believe Bryan could be announced first. Let’s wait and see
