From memory, I believe there are a few people out there in the trade.
Am looking to change my Nissan Navarra for a similar truck but know there is competition out there: Ford, Mitsubishi, Amorak etc.
Anybody got any views on the best?

I love 71 ford f100s but probably not what you are looking for. They’ll never devalue mind.

You can’t beat a HiLux. All the farmers prefer to have them over their old tried and tested defenders nowadays.

Ford Ranger and Mazda variant are the same underneath, they share chassis etc.

Nissan - I see a lot of stuff about them snapping in half?
Renault version is out soon and the new Merc pick up is based on the same models.

Hilux and Mitsubishi - much of a muchness I believe.

Don't know much about the VW tbh.

We have had a Nissan Pathfinder which was ok except off road.
Currently running an Izuzu D Max which is ok but is just under two years old and is subjected to quite a bit of towing and abuse from several drivers. 32k and is just burning out it's second clutch - covered under warranty but disappointing. It isn't too bad off road but it does have the turning circle of a small Spanish Galleon which can be a problem reversing a trailer into a tight gap.

We have just taken delivery of a Ford Ranger 3.2 auto. Hell of a beast. But not driven it enough to give a proper review but has all the toys and seems to tow really well. Ask me in a month when it's been abused by some of the workforce.

Bloke who works for me has a Navara and he has recently had the chassis welded back together.

I have a Ssasunyong sport.
For the price it's great. Good acceleration, 4 doors, decent mpg, practical, comfortable and with a tonneau cover keeps everything dry.

The only downside is the dashboard layout etc. A bit basic. But you get what you pay for.

Had a few of those through work in last two years.

L200 Challenger - Decent but low spec.

Fiat Fullback - The L200 but with superb spec. Much more like. Car than a van. Leather interior the works. Surprisingly good and gray value.

L200 Barbarian - this is the most recent. Great spec and this one is an auto. Great drive. Nice spec with apple CarPlay et.

My favourite is the Fullback though.

What kind of MPG do you get from the pick ups? always fancied 1 as love the driving position, but do you need a second mortgage for the fuel?

I've got a latest version Navara and over 60000 miles its averaged 32.2 (more is possible if that's your focus). Previous to that I had an L200 (not the current model) it managed 26. The latest derivatives of pickups have been a giant leap in terms of economy, driving experience and comfort.

The Ford F-250 Deisel gets around 22 mpg if you go the speed limit, that’s US gallons which are less than Uk gallons
It’s a great truck fully loaded, leather seats ,navigation, back up camera, heated and cooled seats. Love it.
