At least we got some worth out of him, hopefully we throw in Bardsley as a sweetener to tempt clubs to take them both for free.

A good player that we never saw the best of due to his injuries.
At his age had be ideal back at Stoke, in the Championship he could still be a real asset. Their fans would love it too.

Why should he be happy, he's missed practically a season through injury. That doesn't make him a whinger or trouble maker.

It's a good job that header against WBA didn't 'cost' us, ultimately.

This is music to my ears. Hopefully Wells will find a new club as well. We have moved on from the former and the latter was a very odd signing.

With Scotty and Deano gone and most likely GKN, that would leave plenty of room to improve the squad and in a couple of cases the starting 11.

Bring it on!

It should have been a good signing buts its turned out to be a sh*t signing. How many hundreds of thousands has he earned for the 5 appearances. Don't think he'll be missed.

Good luck to the lad.

Dyche will replace him with another good to be around the dressing room character that fans question.

Yes but you (the club) can't "carry" someone earning a large salary just because he's good to have round the dressing room.

That's certainly not what Walters has said. He said: "I have spoken to the manager and I think I'm available to go if needs be. I'll assess it and see what's there."

Really? Quality player, Premier League experience, missed terribly at Stoke - just had bad luck with injuries, otherwise I think he'd have been a regular player.

for him, he deserves it.

He wasn't signed for that reason but the answer to your query is yes you can. Go and ask the Stoke fans.

Can you dig out my posts (the ones that were'nt deleted) about Walters from the moment we looked to sign him. I can then say I told you so as it was a bad signing the day we bought him at its got progressively worse throughout the season.

Just hope we can offload him but I suspect he's getting far more money off us than he'll get offered elsewhere

Crikey..it wasn't an easy chance that...it really wasn't.In fact it would have been a blinding finish if he'd managed to loop it across the keeper into the top corner.

Shame he was injured as we really could have done with him when Brady was injured.

Just think we have been dam unlucky with this one. An immense player and purchase by Stoke (I believe from Ipswich), who was idolized by their fans. He got injured with us early on and rarely played again. Lets not knock anyone at our club. If we can sign a striker who gets me as excited as when we signed him I will be well pleased

Well they did know it was going to happen you see. That time machine is all over this board tonight.

Warks was well excited when we signed him, which I'm struggling with.

I mean I was far from disappointed, we were getting a experienced Premier League player who could play in a couple of different positions, but well excited?

Sorry, no.

as a player he's been a complete non entity for us so he won't be missed.

As a character around the dressing room - mere fans can't put a value on that - how do we know? Did we finish 7th because he was such a good guy that he made everyones working day so much better? If so, if he's the reason that we're the 7th best team in the country despite barely playing, and it's nothing to do with our other lads character, talent and management, then he's worth every penny of his 3,000,000 fee and 20k a week (at least) wage.

Give him a contract for life, I say.

The club and the player have been unlucky since he signed.
Walters has not got a bad injury record at all and had more Premier League experience than anyone in our team.
We paid only £3m for a player with bags of experience who I'm sure Dyche would have picked a few times at least this season or brought off the bench. The injury he picked up scuppered all this and maybe at his age we are thinking that it is a risk that he could be injury prone going forward so lets cut our losses now.

Anyone who said it was a bad signing at the outset go give yourself a big slap on the back - well done. Even though you turned out to be right I am sure whatever rationale you used for thinking this was utter sh-ite.

I think I am available to go

In other words - find another club

Problem is we are still due to pay him a decent stash for the next 12 months so hardly likely to move anywhere else at his age

Nothing against the guy (as an individual) at all and at least it's only 12 months - unlike Nahki Wells !!

Two really poor signings

I said at the time of signing him that I wasn't really convinced given that we already had Barnes and they perform similar functions. I wonder if Barnes would have had such a good season if Walters hadn't been injured.

Not so sure about the character in the dressing room suggestion, he makes comments about being on his own in the article.

At least he can tell his grand-kids but for missing a pen he'd have scored 3 goals away at Chelsea

A potentially good signing who has been unfortunate because of injuries.

Was a more logical signing than Wells. But both will have been signed with Dyche having done the maximum due diligence possible. So no doubting their character and application. In Wells case its merely injuries that have gone against him. (having recently seen the club training both were clearly a massive part. And surprisingly so was GKN. You can't underestimate the importance of good characters around the place - even more important if they arent involved!

Some transfers work some dont. To criticise someone who has done nothing worse than move to a club he was wanted at and have the audacity to get himself injured is a bit low.

Hope he manages to fix himself up somewhere.

I associate poor signings with names of the past such as David Jones. You have picked two players one who didn’t play due to injury and another who was injured when he joined and then didn’t get near the first 11 due to the form of the strikers playing . Oh and those said strikers happened to be part of a team that finished 7th!

Afraid this kind of attitude isnt anything new on here. Edgar played nearly 100 games and gave it his all and still got slated regularly on the old board

They were part of a team that finished 7th

But they never played even when they were fit -Wells actually got on for the princely time of 10 mins in the last game of the season

As I said earlier, nothing against Walters individually, but neither contributed much at all to us finishing 7th

Whilst I've had my fair share of criticism's of some signings, it's unfair to say Walters was a bad one.

Whatever impact he had on the pitch, he may very well have had more impact off it.

Just because he didn't play much when we finished 7th doesn't mean he didn't contribute. He could have offered advice or just a shoulder for other players, giving them confidence before a game or something similar.

He was brought in for his dressing room presence, and considering we finished 7th, it worked, whatever his contribution.

Walters would struggle to contribute much given he was injured! Not sure how that makes him a ‘poor signing’. As with Wells he’s had better players in front of him a strength of our squad.

He could have offered advice etc to other players

If's, but's and maybe's - so why is he/SD thinking he is surplus to requirements now, can he not make that same vital contribution next season

Cause he'll be fit for next season and he will want to play more which he won't here, due to our success.
