The sort of street wise rough dirty bugger but that every team should have. Superb defender.

If that is what you need to do to win I’d rather lose. Absolute joke when he tried to get Mane sent off.

Body slammed Salah then winged like a baby when Mane went near him. He certainly wont be going to Egypt anytime soon .

Undeniable quality spoilt by being a cheat.
One of the worlds best defenders certainly of my lifetime spoilt by being a cheat.
He should of been sent off, twice off the top of my head he could of got yellows for trying to get Mane booked.
Personally also feel the Salah challenge was at least a yellow he could of released Salah's arm at any point he deliberately kept hold an threw him to the floor to hurt him, maybe not cause the injury he has but certainly wanted to hurt Salah.
90 minutes of constant cheating even when 3-1 up an hes the same every game

He did what he did to Salah, because he knew he wasn't a good enough defender to deal with him.

So you'd rather throw one into your own net and look completely useless in a final than take home yet another winners medal?

No I think he means he'd rather try his best and make an error, than purposely injure an opposing player; possibly keeping him out of a World Cup, to gain an advantage, as opposed to having a bit about him.

Winners do what they have too.
We don't necessarily have to like it, but he's just won his 3 CL medal on the trot.

Horrible player, but one of the best CBs of all time for me. At least he's never been quite as horrible as Pepe.

He’s a total winner and does what he has to, World Cups, Euro Championships and countless European Cups.
A truly outstanding and very clever defender.

You can be a winner and not be a 'orrible b'stard'.
I think it's down to how much you have about you. I'm not debating, I'm just giving my take on it.

All winners tend to have that little streak of toughness or nastiness in them.
Ramos just has a bigger nasty streak then most.

The reaction to last night has been hilarious. I can't believe he kept his patented shoulder dislocated / collarbone breaking move under wraps for so long given the reputation he has. It was just an awkward fall.
Then there's the one where they're claiming he smashed into the keeper - propelled by both of Virgil Van Dijk's hands in his back as he runs past him.
An element of the pre judgement of last nights incidents based on prior incidents. Still, funny to watch - especially that bloke from Casualty offering him a charity boxing match on Twitter - total meltdown.

Nope.
Accidents have happened over the years resulting in broken bones.
Roy Keane intentionally tried to break that leg and ended a career.
Ramos and Salah - it's all opinions, it looks crappy, but no one can say with 100% certainty that Ramos intentionally tried to injure Salah at that moment.
I wouldn't be surprised if he did, but equally I don't think he would try to cause serious harm.

He didn't defend well against him - that's the whole point. That's why he did what he did. He wasn't going to handle another 70 minutes of Salah, otherwise he'd have looked daft so he did the only thing he could do - injure him.

Complete rubbish, to the point of laughable.
The reality is that a tangle ended up with an unforeseen injury. He played hard, that’s what the best do but there is no way he intended to take him out the game.
Looked daft? He hasn’t looked daft in World Cup Final and Champions League finals against the best so why now.

Not defending or slagging off Ramos... he did what was necessary
But to say he didn't mean to do it is ludicrous. If he hadn't have taken him out of the game then, there would have been something more obvious coming next

There are people on here convinced Barnes tried to snap Matic's leg.

Absolutely.
A tangle, a coming together, football is a physical game, that’s what happens and again it ended in an unforeseen injury.
No commentator or studio experts were ‘guffawing’ for a red card.
Yes he wrestled him but it happens constantly, just unfortunate he landed badly.
That simple isn’t it.

Agree fully with your view Harpers_perm. It's similar to the Chelsea fans going mad about the Cech head injury, or De Jong in the World Cup Final. There is a risk of accidental injury when you play the game of football. There's also a much reduced risk of injury with intent - see Roy Keane on Haaland, Ben Thatcher's Elbow as prime examples. But let's not pretend Ramos was some sort of Karate expert who had a plan to injury Salah. If he'd wanted to do him, he'd have smashed him feet first in a tackle.

Oh I think if you win in a poor manner, through deliberate cheating, injuring of players, diving etc, then you should be punished and I agree, it has to be worth something. If you're labelling that at Ramos last night then It's totally incomparable, except for the one where he went down holding his face - I'd have booked him for that - but there's nothing in the tangle with Salah though - just an accident.
PS - Ronaldo appears to have lost his pace doesn't he? Wonder if we've anybody on the message board these days who is quicker than him.
