Sacked Heckingbottom. Who in their right mind would go there considering the rate they go through managers.

Any manager will sign up because it's a paying job and dismissal gets a payout.

Absolute great City to live in full of good and bad people just like every other town and city. All lads I know who follow Leeds are no different from us Burnley fans or any other fans for that matter.

The club has been completely mismanaged for years and that's why its on its arse but it wont take much to get it going forward again if they get the right owners. I know people on here hate it but they have great support and take thousands everywhere and those numbers would only grow if they got back in the Prem

I'd love the Leeds job... its so easy. Sign a three year contract, keep your head down and try to get results. If you don't get the results you get sacked - but it doesn't matter to your CV... because everyone in the football profession knows its Leeds... and you still get a payout.

Leeds were a nothing club before Revie took over and haven't done much in the forty years plus since he left - mismanaged really ? or simply gone back to their natural level of doing nowt much to write home about ?

Leeds fall from grace cannot be blamed on him though ... they were nothing before Revie relegated by 1982 down for years ... brief resurgence and a title followed by ... a return to doing nothing ...

file under Derby ,Villa, Forest, etc etc etc etc ... big support , big mouths ...

for now football is still played on the pitch ;)

Devils Advocate: I know people on here hate it but they have great support and take thousands everywhere and those numbers would only grow if they got back in the Prem.

Getting thousands on does not equate to having great support. It's been done to death on here, but they don't have massive support just an extraordinarily large catchment area from which they actually draw a small number of fans. Comparatively, their support is shi-te.

An awful appointment to start with, 4 wins in 16 league games does him no favours. Nixon said they would only sack Heckinbottom if they could get a deal worked out for an unnamed experienced big name manager, turns out it's Biesla.

Having a massive/large support is about the numbers and volumes of followers or fans who go and watch them. What you are talking about is the reason why they have a good support and being a large city is an obvious reason why they can attract a good following.

Burnley do well to get the support we do based on the size of our town but again thats just a reason why our level of support is what it is and regardless of the reasons why Leeds still have a bigger support. You can argue the meaning of the word better and its apparent most Burnley fans will use the definition its % of supporters to population but thats not a universally agreed definition and is just one we cite because it makes us look good

If a town had a population of 20 people and everyone of them went on every home game and on average 10 went away you wouldn't say the team had a bigger support or were better supported than Burnley just because they had a larger % of people go on their games

And here's me thinking you were the devils advocate. It's makes no odds though whatever method you use to assess Leeds support, when compared to the cities of Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, etc and the small towns of Burnley, Blackburn, etc it's still shi-te. End of.

From Twitter:

Games managed by the last 8 Leeds Managers reads like a cricket scorecard down at your local club...

16 - Heckingbottom
33 - Christiansen
53 - Monk
38 - Evans
12 - Rosler
33 - Redfearn
6 - Milanic
6 - Hockaday

:D

I remember my dad telling me about Leeds before Revie at the time when Revie was there. He said he couldn't understand where they had come from as they have historically been a nothing club. A bit like Bradford City really (except for some reason they get the support that Bradford should have but don't). Any credibility they had went out the window when they sacked a genius like Clough after 40 days.

not really it is actually a matter of historical fact ... just have a look at their record pre-Revie and subsequent to his departure ...

The bitterness stretches way beyond Leeds, In the last few years alone we have developed an irrational hatred of the following teams
Brighton
Middlesbrough
Derby
Leicester
Arsenal
Everton
Bournemouth
Lincoln

Theres' probably a few more but its really hard to keep track. Fair play to our hardcore fans though as it musn't be easy being so amazing and virtuous all the time

I'd agree with most of that but the Clough story is something else. He went in their slagging them all off and he also went in there without Peter Taylor and Clough's record without Taylor was not good.

To be fair after getting elected to the league it took them four season to get in to Division 1 and then between 1924 and the first world war they only spent 2 seasons outside the top flight so hardly come from nowhere and similar to Bradford

Look up Bradford City's early years and come back to us on that one .. FA Cup Finals ..First Division etc before Leeds United even existed ...the comparison is fair - Leeds had a purple patch it has been and gone - it happens and will continue to happen for all but the top six.

Ok I assumed when he said they came from nowhere like Bradford City I wrongly assumed he knew what he was talking about Bradford but seems like he was double wrong. My point still stands Leeds didn't come from nowhere and finishing in the top 4 for 10 years on the bounce with 7 of them being in the top 2 is hardly just a pruple patch

Up until getting relegated in 2004 Leeds well over 50% of their existence in the top flight and in that time had won the league 4 times. You can spin it anyway you want but Leeds have a decent history had a decade of dominance and despite the mess they are in now still have a massive support.
