very difficult for me to not go with bergkamp v argentina but its josimar who will always hold a place in my heart.

Manuel Negrete Mexico v Bulgaria (Mexico ‘86). Was down in Southampton at my uncle’s house watching it with my brother who decided to go to the toilet just as the goal was scored. As an 11 year old, that was possibly the best goal I’d ever seen up to that point.

Good shout. Stoichkov hit a good free kick in the same match. Bulgaria got to the semis I think that year.

A couple of England one's spring to mind, Bryan Robson's second v France, deep run into the box and a typical Robson special header.
And Joe Cole v some team (Romania?) 30 odd yard? dipping volley.

Garrincha free kick v Bulgaria in 1966, Farkas' volley for Hungary v Brazil in 1966 and Lothar Emmerich volley for West Germany v Uruguay(I think) also in 1966.

Back in the day, when we scored a worldy between the jumper posts we used to exclaim "OOOH WHAT A GOAL BY ARIE HAAN" unless it was a volley and we were Keith Weller then!

Enjoyed the Maxi Rodriguez goal v Mexico in 2006
I was in Munich to see a World Cup game at the Allianz arena and there was a massive fanfest set up for the other games - saw this goal live at the fanfest and the atmosphere was brilliant....even though there were no Mexican or Argentinian fans !!

If I take my Azzuri glasses off the best goal in my opinion of all the World Cups was Carlos Alberto in 1970.
Everything about this goal - the move, the finish, the commentary, the heat, the pitch....everything is beautiful !!

Geoff Hurst's dodgy, second goal in 1966, which never crossed the line. The big fat, arrogant, sausage munching krauts are still crying about it to this day. Love it.
