It's white sauce, not salad cream surely.
Re: Salad Cream may be getting a name change
Eloquent as ever Cutsy.
But looking at the photo, I see your point.

As long as they don't change brown sauce on racism grounds.

Re: Salad Cream may be getting a name change
Aren't they just "floating" that idea to gauge response? I suspect users (mostly long-time?) will react adversely & the idea will be dropped.
My mother & sister used to have this when I was young in the 60s (actually on salad leafage). I never liked it & only got into Mayonnaise (ahem) in the last 10 years or so.
The justification of the proposed change from the manufacturers is that it's not as often used on salads as it is on sarnies as an alternative to mayo.
I'm guessing that mayonnaise outsells this stuff hugely (now I'm going to have to check how much of each is on the shelves next time I'm in Morrisons).

Yes, which is why my thread title is as it is, I'm not a clickbait artist I'm afraid.LeadBelly wrote:Aren't they just "floating" that idea to gauge response? I suspect users (mostly long-time?) will react adversely & the idea will be dropped.

Re: Salad Cream may be getting a name change
It's white sauce NOT salad cream! Two completely different things. Darn sarf we put white sauce on gammon for example. Maybe it's different in Lancashire?

Dijon mustard with gammon (and a duck egg).Bin Ont Turf wrote:It certainly is different up here in County Palatine.

Salad cream cannot be renamed. Lovely with all cooked ham.
Try mustard mash wholegrain and dijon together. Beautiful.

I like a good sharp hot mustard with my Gammon.
Dijon with olive oil and a sweetish vinegar makes a good salad dressing.
Crispy streaky bacon, boiled egg, Pecorino cheese, watercress, little gem lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, chives and a bit of Juniper Beetroot..... with the aforementioned dressing.
Cracking.

I'd like to thank the OP for the thread as it has reminded me of a product I haven't had for years.
Heinz Sandwich Spread. After a google it is still available, even over here. Perfect for Summer.
