2-1, comfortable win. One of the Mexican players (he won the player of the tournament) was superb. Lewis Cook of Bournemouth looks head and shoulders above anyone else in that England team. Tammy Abraham is crap

With our success in the age group champs, recently, this can only be a great pointer to the future.
But how in heaven did Tammy Abraham get a cap?

The bigger issue is can these talented youngsters take the next step and develop into regular international players,few have in recent times.Anyway well done to England on a hat-trick of wins.

Surely the next step for most of them is getting regular football at club level before anything else

So successful over the years at this level and yet not carried through to the seniors.

Just illustrates how from that age and in this Country things change as they all mature or decline in their personal development.

Yes that is certainly another relevant point in their development.

There was a squad of 20 players selected for this tournament. Of these there are 5 x 21 year old players all of whom are registered with PL clubs.
Out of these, 2 who are Newcastle players have never started a PL game. The others are Lewis Cook who has made 33 starts for Bournemouth with 8 sub appearances, having played for Leeds beforehand, making 78 appearances. Jonjoe Kenny of Everton who has started 23 games and been sub in 4, having previously been on loan at Wigan and Oxford. The third player is Kyle Walker-Peters who has started 5 matches for Spurs, just 2 in the PL, and has been sub on 4 occasions.

There are 12 x 20 year old players, 9 are registered with PL clubs including 4 with Chelsea. Out of these only 1 has appeared as a sub for Chelsea, although Abraham has made 21 starts on loan at Swansea and a futher 18 sub appearances. Ainsley Mailand-Niles of Arsenal has started 8 PL matches although he has started 24 matches and been sub in 14 for Arsenal. Kieran Dowell (Everton) has made 1 PL start and 2 sub appearances but was playing regularly at Nottingham Forest last season. The other 3 twenty year olds have not started a PL game.
The remaining three players, Dael Fry of Middlesbrough has started 21 games and been sub in 7, Tom Pearce od Leeds has started 5 games and Ezri Konsa Ngoyo of Charlton has started 77 games with 9 sub appearances.

This leaves just 3 x 19 year old players who are registered with PL clubs but only Tom Davies of Everton has the experience with 46 starts and 24 sub appearances.

It will be interesting to see who develops further from this squad, however, with 9 of these registered with the 'top 6 clubs' their chances will be limited.
