I was “lucky” enough to get an ipad for my birthday from my girls. Love it over android but we had the granddaughter with us last weekend and I happened to say to Mrs. Broke that another advert had popped up on a subject we had been discussing the night before.
The young un pipes up “oh, that will be Seri”.
She then goes onto explain that it is listening all the time and the algorithms link your keywords to the adverts. Alexa is probably doing the same.
She then turned it off for me.
But has she? And are they recording me and my good lady having a good time?
The iPad has now been banned from the bedroom.
Be careful out there.

Virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa will be listening to so that they can be activated when you say ''Hey Siri'' or ''Alexa''
They take keywords to for the purposes of marketing and things but you've turned that off now so you won't any more. It's exactly the same as cookies on an internet browser.
