It wasn't too clever announcing he'd be leaving two days before the competition started. Knowing Perez he will have pushed to announce it asap. Then the upturn in form led to Robson's popularity rising but you cant blame him for looking for another job prior to that world cup because quite frankly for two years nobody wanted him as England Manager apart from the FA.
