his career spans a good few years, but for those old enough to see his earliest games, to the younger fans watching him recently, we are lucky to be watching a remarkable footballing talent.
players like this rarely come along, but when they're on form football is an art form

True but a pity he’s so consistently big headed with it.

Messi isn't an arrogant swine and he is the better player IMO. Ronaldo is second and whilst being a c*ck is an outstanding talent.

MOST of ronaldos goals are very ordinary, unlike messi. He's just exceptional at movement and doing the basics very well.

You may quaff.. You see how many of his goals are tap ins or from the 6 yard box. Most of them.

The greatest player of all time.

Lets just appreciatehim and messi while we still have them. Both great in their own individual way. Both have amazing style. Messi more through natural talent. Ronaldo more through sheer hard work. Both completely world class and both completely committed.

Arrogant? So what. If he wasnt he wouldnt be half as good as he is. Its that arrogance that drives him.

Amazing player.

Yes, he's a c*ck but for someone to come on here saying he tends to score ordinary goals beggars belief. He is an extraordinary talent. Just shows the problem with message boards, even when faced with clear genius you will get the "I like to be different to show how clever I am types" suggesting otherwise. Rant over.

Did be break into offices of the Spanish equivalent of the HMRC, plant a corner flag and declare it sovereign Ronaldonian territory?

I've seen many of his goals for real Madrid and they are fairly basic. The outstanding part is he scores so many of them. I'm not degrading him.

Messi has been unreal also. But Ronaldo at euro 2016 and now today has set the bench even higher. Pressures on messi tomorrow. Can he deliver?

I purposely didn’t use ‘facking’ as I’m fully aware it’s a popular word used by the urban denizens..

‘Those kids are facking over there complaining about their oboes cracking in the cold, snowy, weather.’

‘Those kids are facking over there opting for the most cost efficient plump breasted Romanian prostitute’

I couldn’t care less if he’s arrogant, he deserves to be.

His success is down to the hard work he puts in. Ferdinand was saying he is the hardest working player he has ever played with, and Sir Alex has said the same. He deserves all the plaudits

I thought he dived for the third goal's free kick. But a brilliant finish.

I reckon a lot of the 'hate' towards him is to do with his face.

It was a good performance by him, probably one of his best ever. But he his is such a poseur if immense proportions.

His so called ordinary goals are because he has the spacial awareness, the determination and more importantly the fitness to be in the right place time after time after time.

I doubt the cream of the Man Utd team were lying when everyone of them has said he was the hardest working lad on the training pitch.

Messi has an absolute dearth of natural talent and plays some unbelievable football.

You cannot realistically separate them so enjoy watching the best 2 players on the planet whilst they still play.

When your younger everyone tells you that the greats are separated by what they have achieved at international level, I don't think I ever understood that till Euro 2016 and potentially last night. Ronaldo has overtaken Messi as the greatest player in the world and to be honest, is probably well on his way to being the greatest ever. I can see Ronaldo playing till he's 40, he's devolved his game a lot over the past few seasons to drop in and out of games when needed.

I bet JapBe watches highlight reels on YouTube rather than watching actual games.

who cares about a player's personality?

they're virtually all as thick as beans.

can you possibly imagine seeing a world-class goal and saying to the person next to you: ''great goal but his favourite band is coldplay''?

Envy isn't a good trait along with jealousy. Ronaldo as kept his hunger and desire for the game going for years! Were lucky to see such a talent!

He has gone up in my estimation after seeing the video of him getting off the team coach for a picture to be taken with a crying kid. I think he has done similar things for young supporters in the past too. For those who have not seen it.

I agree, this supposed arrogance seems down to him pulling his face when things aren't going well however he pulls his face and rolls up his socks and does something about it. He's just used to winning, he expects to win so when he's not winning he's rightly disappointed.

He's a single dad I believe, does very little media and interviews, gives a fortune away to charity and always shows appreciation towards fans, I like that he sulks abit,I'd rather have a player visibly upset at losing and willing to do everything to change it.
