Wetherspoons have said they are to ban England flags during the World Cup.

What, decorating their pubs ? Being waved by nutcases inside or outside their premises ?

People are allowed to bring there own flags, staff are just being discouraged from putting up England flags in addition to the World Cup bunting.

Tim Martin was born in Norwich actually. Went to school in New Zealand and Ireland. But I, too, am surprised given his penchant for telling the rest of Europe to go and stick their heads up their own arses and ditching Champagne for English sparkly stuff. I don't think a flag ban will be enough to keep the nutcases out of Wetherspoons. Maybe its something to do with not upsetting the sensibilities of our Celtic cousins who unfortunately didn't qualify. Never mind, we might all be in the same boat by the end of the month!

Before the smoking ban was official, you could still smoke, (at the bar even), in West Bromwich. Wetherspoons opposite the bus station. Even though they had banned it.
