I didn’t know our weakened team circumstances then so it’s interesting now to learn of them, it was certainly a big surprise when the result came through as we had seemingly done the hard work in the away leg.

Angus, Lochhead & Irvine all missing and by this time the relationship between Adamson and players such as Harris & Elder was bad which resulted in both players eventually leaving. But I always remember it is as a massive let down.South West Claret. wrote:I didn’t know our weakened team circumstances then so it’s interesting now to learn of them, it was certainly a big surprise when the result came through as we had seemingly done the hard work in the away leg.

"When he gave away a second with eighteen minutes left, giving Eintracht the extra away goal, we suddenly needed three goals to go on and win it."
Tony had the away goals rule been introduced already or was that later?

Cheers, CT.
Loving “It was fortunate that club chairman Harry Langton was there at the time and he took the appropriate emergency action by giving him a lift home and helping him in to bed.” 1967 nursing at it’s best.
Surprising to break up the O’Niel/Harris midfield when it had worked so well and Arthur, up front, could have pinched a goal.
I’d never heard of friction between Harris/Elder and Adamson could you expand at all?

Harris was the one who we finally sold after another punch up with Adamson and Elder certainly left because of him. Brian Miller once described Adamson to me as a strange man. He fell out with so many players. He had his favourites who could get away with anything and then there were the players he didn't treat very well at all.piston broke wrote:I’d never heard of friction between Harris/Elder and Adamson could you expand at all?

I was at the game but I can’t remember O’Neil and Latcham up front, which is surprising given that it was a crazy idea.
Had either of them played there before?

I was a young lad in the army in Singapore at the time news didn't come through quickly in those days had to wait for the tickertape to come through, didn't realise the background situation. Some guy posted all the Saturday results on the notice board for Sunday imagine my reception at brekkie wba8 burnley1 . If you give banter you have to take it.
