It's really refreshing to see some Aberdeen fans signing up for the message board today, offering and seeking advice for the two games between our clubs.
Well done lads, it's appreciated.

Can’t speak for quality, I went cheap. Aberdeen Central Travel Lodge was £53 for the night without breakfast (no time for it as our return flight is 06.40 on Friday). I thought that was pretty good and it is slap bang in the centre. Judging by Google Maps it’s about a 15 minute walk from Pittodrie.

All reasonable priced, 70/80 per room for the big names like Hilton/Marriot.

Loads of hotels right outside the airport that are reasonably priced. Gets a bit dearer as you go into the city. Its about 7 miles from the airport to the centre. The train link from Dyce to Aberdeen is suspended till August so if anybody is flying give yourselves plenty of time to get into town as its a nightmare, whether by bus or by taxi. Can take upto an hour.

I got a £54 cancellable deal at the Premier Inn in the centre

P.S. There are a few good places to drink in Dyce and you can then catch the rail replacement buses of which there are plenty and they go direct to the city centre with no stops(about 20mins)

Yep fair play to them.
They don’t seem to be bothering with the World Cup thread though

Beer sounds a bit dearer and the hotels as well. On the upside surely the Castrol GTX must be cheaper up there ?

You would think so. Couldn't be further from the truth. A pint is approx £3-50,try not to use taxis and watch out for hotels putting a price hike at any time. My advice would be if you are staying over I would book now. As it gets closer to the date the hoteliers know that oil workers will need a room and hence the price hike.

Its one of those, save £20 staying outside the city Centre then spend £20 on taxis getting back and forth

I've done exhibitions up there and hotels have been £200 a night when its busy. Can get crazy, we have always hired apartments for the week.
Luckily this time its not the case, see you in Soul Bar

So razer what are the recommendations for bars ?
And also is it worth the hour journey to the cairngorms?

Dp. If you want to see the Cairngorms you could drive off the Dundee to Aberdeen rd. And take the A9, however it is quite a dangerous road with too many impatient drivers. If you have time I would recommend taking a detour to Pitlochry and it is quite easy to get back on the main road to Aberdeen.

I was trying to remember how I came to go to Pitlochry - it was when we played the first pre-season game against St. Johnstone.

dpinsussex. If you want to see the Cairngorms/Grampians best to go on A93 through Blairgowrie you can stop at Glenshee Ski Centre (650m) for great views & climb (easy) munros Glas Maol or Cairnwell in 1-1.5 hour for amazing views. then through Braemar to Aberdeen (or vice versa) very remote so make sure you have plenty of petrol. One of my favourite places & worth the detour in my opinion as long as it's not shrouded in sh*t.

I've stayed at the Express Holiday Inn North of Aberdeen and in Ellon at the hotel by the river around 8 miles North. Fantastic people up there and they will be very welcoming to the Burnley people, but like here, they can look after themselves if need be.
A few times I've driven the 680 mile round trip in the day, but driving home after the game is something I wouldn't recommend. The WHOLE length of the A9 is an average speed area. Beware you may not see cameras for a few miles and think your out of the restriction and speed up. Also car drivers going to the match, remember that Scotland has lower drink drive levels.

A lot depends on where ticketless Clarets are staying. If there are enough coming up without tickets I could probably organise a pub where we could watch the match(if its on tv). I already know a place where they would lay on free food if enough turned up. A brilliant friendly pub called Spiders Web.

It's also used as an overspill for the homeless in the city by the local council. Sure they'll be on a separate floor though.

Why are you ripping the arse out of folk coming to Aberdeen by asking them to frequent pub approx, 8 miles from Aberdeen?
Seriously min...a pub in fuckin dyce? Not even in Aberdeen?
What is you're motivation for this? Financial?
Burnley folk, please. Google - 'Spiders Arms Dyce' Its a pub which makes its money from offshore workers getting the train south. that is all.
This Rayzer cun't is an imposter on the make. Don't take my word for it, google is your friend.

Listen mate, I think your reading too much into what rumps was saying about the junkie and alcoholic contingent of our support base. Yes we do have people like that in our fanbase. EVERY club does, even Burnley. The good news is these guys don't go to the games and you will be welcomed in Pittodrie with open arms. Now thats not to say you may not encounter some of these guys outside the stadium mooching for spare change. The good news for you boys is I will be there on hand to shoo them on when I meet you at the away end.
BOOM!
All part of the service, lads. See you when you get there.

Firstly it is called the Spiders Web not the Spiders arms and I'll leave it upto Burnley fans to decide if the Snuggery is the best place for a drink in Aberdeen. I did state" it depends where ticketless fans are staying" . Ive taken the trouble to read all the posts and I know some are travelling by plane and I also know that some are staying out at hotels near the airport. The Spiders Web is 5 minutes from the airport.I dont need to justify myself to you rumpus I am well known by many Aberdonions who have travelled down to Burnley over the years.

I heard a number of people mention this over a number of months and couldn't understand for the life in me, until recently, why that all of sudden Ayr had become such a popular hotspot as a tourist destination

The Banks Of Uri if you want a really cheap hotel that comes complete with a bar full of riggers in their heavily soiled gear, turds in unflushed toilets and an abusive to guests owner. It does have free parking at the rear, cheap ale and a good breakfast though. It's really is delightful.
