There is a memorial bench above Upper Ogden Reservoir just under Pendle Hill it's a fabulous spot with amazing views. I sit there quite often taking in the scenery and often wonder who Ali was. He obviously loved the spot and I just wondered if anyone knew him and could let me know a little more about him. Sad that he passed away too young whoever he was.

Thanks for posting that. It will be nice to think of him whilst I'm pondering.

I was sat on his bench myself last Friday afternoon. Lovely spot, very peaceful. Just make sure you avoid the diggers on your way there.

Never done Pendle Hill. Where's the best place to park and start from. I assume it's not too strenuous for us old uns. Dont know the area around Pendle. We're heading from Skipton. Thanks.

I knew Ali, he worked at the same place as me. A good bloke. Think that was his favorite walk up where the memorial bench is.

If you want the easiest/nearest place to park, then people park on the road close to farm track that leads to the steps, always cars parked here- you can’t miss it***post code incorrect**
Otherwise Barley carpark which has cafe, add 15 or so minutes walk each side. Or I’d park in the Pendle Inn and get good home cooked food and a beer on the way back.
Always surprised when friends from Burnley have not been up Pendle, Park and walk from that post code regularly.
Just over an hour up the steps, down the front diagonal track. You’ll stop to catch your breath on the steps no doubt!

So often people miss things on their own doorstep. We had an informal meeting recently with some reps from the Huddersfield Town Supporters Association. We held it in the cafe at Towneley, only because their chairman knows the curator at the Hall. They were blown away by the place. Other than the dog walkers, it is a forgotten treasure for far too many.
