Dig at Dyche?
“It is more hands on coaching, for the past five years at Burnley the gaffer took a back step and let his assistants do it but it wasn’t as full on as Mick (Beale – First Team Coach) has not been nor Gary (McAllister) and the gaffer have been, especially in this camp here.''

Usual new club bullshit. No way on earth will it be harder than it was here.

It might be harder or are we assuming dyche has the toughest ever pre season and every other club just walk.

I bet Sean Dyche will have a smile on his face reading that - as Murger posted, it's new club bullshit.

It's like when people assume top clubs like city Liverpool united don't work hard in training through the week like smaller clubs do.

Trippier said he thought he was fit until he went to Spurs - he said Pochetino's pre season was a different level. If Tripps said it I believe it. Dyche needs to up his game !

It’s just hard for some to believe that another teams preseason can be as “legendary” as a Dyche one.

Our fitness levels have been exemplary since Dyche arrived.
Those who haven't measured up have been shipped out (Treacy) or been persuaded to buy into the project (Defour).

When you get to 29 it is harder Scott. Glad you are feeling positive because we wish you well. However to think that at your age
you are going to exceed what BFC did for you is a little unrealistic. Steve Gerrard is not on the same page as Sean Dyche.
But prove me wrong.

It needs to be harder at Rangers as fitness is the only thing that can help make up for how sh-ite they are.

I do also think Tripps moving South, getting married around that time, and being challenged by a world class group did enable him to push on away from his comfort zone.

By all accounts Tripps went on the pop for a month after leaving us and came back for pre season at Spurs unfit

Fitness is a myth. They all work hard on fitness and run hard from the off. However, the mind provides extra resilience and commitment to a cause and that is what adds a percentage edge, which shows if the opposition has not got that same desire or collective commitment.

All squads are as fit as each other. We don’t have the ball much so run further to try and get it back.

Not at all, but why did he mention us and Dyche? he compared us to them like we were inferior and he's stepped up a level. He had no reason to mention us or compare against us, I now hope we pull through against Aberdeen and draw the inferior Rangers in the following round so we can give them a spanking.

I'd let Rangers fans believe this kind of thing if they want. Pre-season training at every club is very hard because all players lose a bit over the summer break.
Nice to see that Gerrard at least realises that his team have to be mega-fit to have a chance

Hardly surprising. We told him,in effect, that he was no longer good enough for Burnley and he did not get much game time in the second half of the season. This is a new start at a club that means a lot to him. He is bound to put a positive spin on it.

Ive seen us train. And dyche does take a back step. And that shows how good a manager he is. He lets his specialists in each area do their thing without interfering and thinking he knows better. The sports scientists, the coaches, the physios will all do their thing. And rightly so. Dyche is the manager and theyre as much a part of his team as the players are. I would be more worried if Dyche was doing it all!

As said above just trying to please the new fans and employer. Its a bit of a dig though which he didn't need to make. Let's see how Rangers do this year. Im not convinced by Gerard and they are not even the 2nd best team in the SPL and are a country mile behind Celtic.

We need to up the intensity of our pre-season hell week in response.
Plenty of smoke flares, live ammo and Justin Bieber played full blast on a continuous loop - really test the physical and mental fortitude of our players.

It's absolutely a dig and a needless one, I now hope Rangers fail spectacularly.

Another point I would make is that Dyche is more of an on old school club manager with full control over everything that goes on, which means a hands on coaching approach is probably just not doable.
I would assume Gerard is much less involved in the day to day running of the club at Rangers and purely focused on the playing side, so I would expect him to be involved more in the coaching.
I don’t think Alex Ferguson spent that much time on the training pitch, but he still did a pretty good job! That’s why you employ good coaches.

Par for the course comment.
In a couple of years when he moves to his next club, McBoggan Academicals in the Cowdenbeath Alliance he'll be saying exactly the same thing.

Arfield will be “Glasgow fit” which means just one battered fish for your supper instead of two
Scotty will find it hard to motivate himself for a lower level of football
