If a player has no self belief he might as well pack the game in.
He believes in his own ability and I have no problem with that, The bottom line is that, no matter how good or bad the fans think he is, he will be playing for his country in a World Cup Final on Sunday and he played for his club in the European Champions League Final a couple of months ago.

I would take that on my CV any day of the week ---deluded or not.

Totally agree - he’s deluded. Maybe Liverpool would have been Premier League champions and Champions League winners with a better player than Lovren.

Should been booked last night for his 'first' body-check on a clearly 'out of sorts' Harry Kane, a stronger referee would of cracked down on this severely limited defender?!

He's stupid to say that but he's played well thus far.

A truly marvellous defender. Cool, calm under pressure. A real roll model for young defenders trying to learn the trade. One of the worlds best.

Pretty sure the refs were instructed not to issue cards in the first half of the semi finals.
Certain yellows in first half of both games not given and then soft ones in the second half.

This so called brilliant defender was obviously tasked with stopping Kane at all costs! and poor officiating allowed this to happen.
This is not sour grapes at the result, more a reality check into the limited capabilities of Lovren as a defender!

He's actually not a bad player. Think everyone would have him here if possible, crazy if not! He's probably not world class but some of you were arguing that Sergio Ramos isn't either the other week, so .... Who is? The one thing I'd say about Lovern is that he has the desire and belief of a world class player.

One of the worlds best? Well if he qualified he would walk into the starting eleven of Brazil, England, Portugal, Italy, Holland, Argentina and possibly Germany.

Excellent player. And alongside Van Dijk next season if they get a better keeper Liverpool could absolutely win the league.

He did his job though and Harry Kane could not do anything apart from drop deeper and deeper and we lost influence in the game.
Easy to blame officials but we have gone soft watching PL football where nearly every bit of physicality is given a Yellow Card.

It has been good to see that most officials still believe that football is a physical game and to not be conned by players diving around as Deli Alli did in his own penalty area once last night to try to get a free kick to alleviate pressure. The referee dismissed lots of efforts to con him last night by both sides and the game was better for it.

Makes too many mistakes for him to be considered amongst the world's best.
He's competent most of the time but has never had a stand-out season in the league he plays in

Apologies Ashington but I cannot agree Lovren did his job, his job is to stop the opposition player/s by fair means, he blatantly body checked Kane on at least 3 occasions with no response from the referee other than to award the free kick, infact after one such incident Lovren berated the referee for awarding a free kick!!
As for Dele Alli we all know he would be better suited as a springboard diver!!, however my point in relation to Lovren is (IMHO) he isn't even the best centre half at Liverpool never mind in the world!!!

I never said that he was, I just gave you a reason why he would say what he did ----self belief!
I also think that he did do his job, he stopped Harry Kane by being physical and when he committed fouls he was penalised. Not every foul is a yellow card and the officials did not feel that he overstepped the mark, therefore, no caution issued. Perhaps they should have referred to VAR if you think that the referee made obvious mistakes, isn't that why it is supposed to be there?

We are being brainwashed week in and week out watching the PL which is becoming less and less physical and where players feel that "they felt contact so they are entitled to go down" We will soon be better off watching netball!

He's told to stop a player, that's it, fair or not doesn't come into it.

It's down to the ref to spot the fouls so any defender will try and get away with them.
If the ref had been doing his job then Lovren would've been shown a yellow card early on.

That block on Kane’s header when Trip had volleyed in that cross saved the game. At 2-0 they were gone. Lovren was good last night, ugly but solid. More solid than Walker or Stones, which was critical.

I thought he should have received two definite yellows last night.

He isn't even the best defender at Liverpool never mind in the world.

Assuming he remains at Liverpool next season, he's not half set himself up for some abuse from opposing fans.. Maybe some of his own fans too..

Rebic had a minimum of 3 clear yellows before he finally got booked.

Oh hes one of the best ok, the best ever moaning b.....d in the history of the game, contested every decision by the ref if it was against his team, total deluded prick.
