Given that Aberdeen will be well up for this with a full Pittodrie baying for English blood and that we are what 2-3 weeks away from getting up to speed, I think we’ll do well to keep it down to two nil tbh.

Won't be the walkover many predict (IMO) for a number of reasons. Scotland England factor. The seriousness we take cups. The fact its early in our pre season. Our lack of new signings. And The Premier League.

Some people are seriously overestimating the Scottish league here. The standard is absolute dross, Aberdeen are one of the better teams to be fair but made up of league 1 standard players. The score line will depend on how serious we take this competition.

I do think some posters are deliberately using hyperbole and most think it'll be fairly close over the two legs.

We only lost to Arsenal and Man City away in the league last season, beat Chelsea and drew with Liverpool, Man Utd and Spurs. That said we lost to 5 of the top six at home, only drawing with Man City.

Still I think you'll have the advantage because of recent experience in this particular competition and our poor form in cup competitions.

I dont think most are. Aberdeen will be pumped. and that in itself will add to things.

Realistically we should toy with them as we did the last league one standard side we played in the cup early last season.

However we will be equally likely to put in a performance like we did against accy and lincoln.

Aberdeen is a good side in a dreadful league and not one of their players would get near our team.

We've lost to lower league sides in cups recently but I think we'll be taking this seriously. It'll be tough up there and I think we'll either draw or win by a single goal.

The win 2-0 or 3-0 at home

Lastly if you're referring to Rooney as our main striker you might want to check out the actual number of times he started up front for us last season.
Been a good servant but by no means still viewed by McInnes as our main striker and that is the reason he is offski to get regular football.

A draw I think. I've had too much time on my hands over the last few days so went and watched a few Aberdeen games towards the back end of last season. McInnes has done a good job up there and they are a decent side, but have lost a number of influential players over the summer like McLean, Stewart, Rooney and O'Connor. It doesn't look like many have been replaced.

Will be a tough game but one we can win if we play to our maximum.
