Great atmosphere in this old school ground and their fans were up for it at times they had all sides singing . I expected our fans to raise the roof but apart from a long “ we are the longside” we were a bit flat and hardly created much atmosphere .A lot of older fans were there . Footy wise I thought we were actually fairly decent and in control of much of the game , we lacked cutting edge though and we’re crying out for Defours class. They were average at best maybe very weak champ level or good 2nd division . Threw emselves to the floor far too easy and were devoid of any class ,decent left ? winger though .Their fans were a decent bunch too and first time I’ve drunk whiskey from a shoe.

Off to Skye now and back for 2nd leg where I expect us to smash em.

Listening last night on Radio5 Live and all I could here were the Burnley fans. In the Guradian write-up it said the large traveling support from Burnley made it a terrific atmosphere.

It was the usual mixture. It was really really f'ing loud at times - the loudest I've heard away - my ears were like after a rock concert afterwards but there were lulls of not very much audible support.

I've seen it remarked upon quite a few times on both this board and on the Aberdeen board about the age of the Burnley fans there last night. I think the older you are the more you benefit from the points system. Can't see too many under 25s meeting the required points criteria.

It didn't seem much different to the usual away demographic. Possibly a few less at the young (under 16) end with thise being replaced by older fans. But by and large, the usual make up.

I think Hartlepool when it was -40, 15 feet deep in snow and we lost 38-0 is the post-'87 benchmark.

They should do the loyalty points in reverse. Put them “on sale” for over 6000 point holders. When they show up to buy the tickets a huge fog horn gets blasted in their faces.

We were on the end of the row right next to the Aberdeen mob and both sets of fans were so bloody loud we'd all gone a bit deaf when we came off the ground.

The joys of a low roof and everyone packed in. Harked back to the Longside.

Said it on twitter, but if you were with us in Row P with no roof then we could all be singing our absolute guts out and you would barely hear it if you were in the stand next to it with a roof.

They way I'd like it to be for this season's Europa is

1) points system as for Aberdeen;
2) but, once you've bought a ticket for an away game you are then not allowed to buy a ticket for another round - until all other season ticket holders have had their opportunity to buy an away ticket.
3) So, yes, a risk on how far the club progresses, But it will create a fairness for our first European competition in 50+ seasons.
4) And, it will be interesting if some "6,000+ points" choose to pass on a round so they have a chance to buy for a later round....

Of course, I'm arguing from self interest - but aren't most of us doing that?

But, that was early in the game....

It is strange to hear - and read a report (The Times) that references how much monay Burnley have and how little Aberdeen has. The Times says that Aberdeen cost less than £500,000.

I thought both sets of fans were great last night........in the afternoon in town, the Police were friendly as were the locals......one big pub around teatime had both sets of fans singing, and all friendly............brilliant day, well done Aberdeen for making it a day to remember.......proud to be a Claret..

Oh, and I may fall into the “older demographic m but stillsang my bloody heart out!

And got back at 6am! Whilst no doubt some of those who do post on here probably could stay up a bit later seeing as it’s the school hols.....

So you'd need to get a season ticket and attend every away game for 11 seasons to get over 6000 (based on us playing a 38 game PL season). thats because everyone there was about 100 year old

we had 26 on our coach, we sang our hearts out for 94 minutes.
We were in block P so basically outside.
None of us are over a 100

Usual stuff re: the atmosphere, started brilliantly, ended brilliantly, but went a bit flat when the team did. Really felt like an occasion though

100% agree with this.

Nothing wrong with our support at all really, could have been a bit better, could have been a lot worse. Spoke to an Aberdeen fan Friday morning who complemented us on being loud though.

Thoughts - We looked more like the away team.You moved the ball about quite nicely,without creating too many chances.Seemed reluctant to have a pop at goal from around the box

We do have our share of planks though, number one the guy who shouted 'black ba"""rd' and 'f***ing P*ki' at Shay Logan (born in Wythenshawe) and number 2 his mate who hurled himself across seats knocking me and others over when Vokes scored being just 2.

I did tell number one to quit the abuse much against my better judgement. But it certainly took the gloss off the night for me, sadly. The cut on my leg from the seat in front may take some time to heal though.

You can go to grounds with crowds bigger than 20,000 with 2,000 and compete.

Aberdeen were really up for it, totally drowned us out at times.
