Good way to hedge his bets as we're unlikely to sign 5. So he's basically saying we may sign 0-4 players, lol.Reecey1987 wrote:He said last night we want 4 players but may get less
He’ll tell us we have a game that day against MontpellierPearcey wrote:News in the paper tomorrow. Any guesses?
Will this count as one of his "Nixons usually right" statements?Reecey1987 wrote:He said last night we want 4 players but may get less
Lets just wait and see who we end with he may be right he might not be . He seems to get every other transfer more a less right when it comes to other clubs so i dont so any reason why he wont when its usbobinho wrote:Will this count as one of his "Nixons usually right" statements?
Playing it safe there isn't he...
Exciting times tho eh?
He might say that, but that's not the case.Reecey1987 wrote:He said last night we want 4 players but may get less
At the risk of sounding like Play Your Cards Right is it higher or lower?ClaretTony wrote:He might say that, but that's not the case.
I'm not sure where this comes from but I've never, ever seen any confirmation of any wage ceiling and I don't believe we have one.warksclaret wrote:In terms of transfers the club has already said quality over quantity. Sadly to bring in players who are good enough and experienced enough to get in the team a weekly £35k wage ceiling will be our biggest challenge.
Given we went through last season a centre back light, have a clear interest in another striker, and have lost 3 midfielders/ wide players since last season so have lost a lot of depth in those departments, Id be pretty disappointed if we didnt want at least 3 and ideally 4 players. And thats before we consider the goalkeeper issue.ClaretTony wrote:He might say that, but that's not the case.
Given salaries are confidential, it can be no morw than an educated guess.warksclaret wrote:Morning Tony-about a month ago I saw an extract published from an American report on PL player salaries. It showed Brady, Defour, Cork and a few more Burnley players on £35k a week(£1.8m a year) and went down to the lower payers. Players who had been there some time were lower down the pay scale ie Mee, Vokes. It looked authentic and appeared to be "in-line" with what you hear about BFC salaries. Could all be wrong of course
I reckon agents will openly brag how much money they got for there players to entice other clients.claretspice wrote:Given salaries are confidential, it can be no morw than an educated guess.

Hi Warks, I'm pretty sure "£35k per week" comes from the 2015/16 season - possibly including promotion bonuses (or possibly with bonuses on top).warksclaret wrote:Morning Tony-about a month ago I saw an extract published from an American report on PL player salaries. Dunno bout other clubs, I do know he gets more wrong than right when it comes to us.Reecey1987 wrote:Lets just wait and see who we end with he may be right he might not be . I think a football team starts with 11 players every game.DustyBawls wrote:I think we'll sign fewer than 8 players.
You heard it here first.
He also said it was the same players we had been linked with all window and nothing had moved since the start.Reecey1987 wrote:He said last night we want 4 players but may get less
Not having a ceiling doesn't mean we actually pay anyone more than 35k. Pedantic I know, but the ceiling is irrelevant, what we pay is.randomclaret2 wrote:A quick look at our most recent wage bill shows we do not have a £35k/week ceiling
Feels like more of a straight jacket at the moment, but with nearly two weeks to go before the window closes hopefully we can still do a Harry Houdini.Steddyman wrote:We all know there is a 'framework' as both the Manager and Chairman have spoken about it repeatedly.
Then how many are we after?ClaretTony wrote:He might say that, but that's not the case.
Why would it be wages? We have spent the entire window faffing around again, chasing the same 4 players, I'm positive even we're not stupid enough to do that if we can't afford their weekly wage.warksclaret wrote:Its wages as I said earlier
It’s not laughable is it really?? What would be laughable is signing those 4 three weeks ago and paying way, way more than we’ll probably end up doing. If SD thinks we can wait abit longer for signings thats fine by me.KRBFC wrote:The 4 we want are Clucas, Dawson, Rodriguez and Mawson, we are no closer since the window opened. Laughable really, it appears to me the cash just isn't available to sign players.
and its the same boring happy clappers every season, making the same bs excuses for the club. It has absolutely nothing to do with Dyche, he's made it perfectly clear he wanted players in already, this isn't his choice, his hands are tied.Dyched wrote:It’s not laughable is it really?? It’s the same whinges every bloody transfer window. We’re cautious. We have to be. We might have more money than we ever have but it doesnt mean we should go about throwing money about.
Harry Houdini ? Hope he's a creative 'no. 10'kaptin1 wrote:Feels like more of a straight jacket at the moment, but with nearly two weeks to go before the window closes hopefully we can still do a Harry Houdini.
Yes it’s the same old happy clappers every season that have faith in what and how we do thinks. You know why son? Because we’ve gone from the bottom half to Europe in 5 years doing it our way.KRBFC wrote:and its the same boring happy clappers every season, making the same bs excuses for the club. Of course he would like them in earlier, but show us one quote where he says he doesn’t agree with the clubs recruitment policy. Show us a quote where he says he is at odds with the chairman and directorsKRBFC wrote:and its the same boring happy clappers every season, making the same bs excuses for the club. I agree, but unless he comes with an injury free guarantee, he isn't with half of what Liverpool want for him.HiroshimaClaret wrote:For fear of lighting the blue touchpaper, any chance of Ings? Fit, he would FIT into any of `our systems` perfectly!!!! Under or over 25% of this happening...
It would be either Dawson or Mawson, not both, we don't need 2. My real concern is that we haven't been linked with anyone with what we desperately need, pace, either upfront or out wide.KRBFC wrote:The 4 we want are Clucas, Dawson, Rodriguez and Mawson, we are no closer since the window opened. If it was wages our offers would have been accepted by the parent club.KRBFC wrote:Why would it be wages? We have spent the entire window faffing around again, chasing the same 4 players, I'm positive even we're not stupid enough to do that if we can't afford their weekly wage.
He's never going to come out and say that is he? why would he be at odds with the chairman or directors?1968claret wrote:Of course he would like them in earlier, but show us one quote where he says he doesn’t agree with the clubs recruitment policy. Yeah but those will be the 4 we're currently pursuing, we obviously won't get both central defenders. Yeah, we haven't been linked with anyone yet who will actually drastically improve what we already have, as the saying goes ''if you are standing still you're moving backwards''.claretandy wrote:It would be either Dawson or Mawson, not both, we don't need 2.
