Been a bit of bother with the s9 batteries. My missus's battery went pop in her pocket. She took it to the shop and had to have it replaced. A common problem according to EE.

I've got an iPhone and largely people will just recommend what they've got but if I wasn't in an ecosystem and I was buying a phone today I'd get the Huawei P20 Pro.

Had an IPhone for as long as I can remember, but recently swapped to S9 and it's hands down miles better.

Yes the Huawei P20 Pro does look good. iPhone is out never heard of the p20 but might be worth a try

Not a bad shout, I always go for more unfashionable mobile phone manufacturers you can unearth some gems without compromising too much on the spec side at the fraction of the RRP some others go for, I also don’t like a couple to monopolise the market.

As a side, my contract ends mid september. EE phoned me yesterday offering me free early upgrade. they offered me 50% less data than a new customer would get at the same price. Can you still haggle with them in the last week by asking for your pac code?

Not a fan of android. Changed to apple and I find them much better. Love it when all the apple haters come out in force though. There’s seems to be a real hatred. Funny really.

Just got the new 1plus.. I can't compare it to the others but so far it's unbelievable.. apparently it's faster than the iPhone and Samsung and has a far superior camera than both and it's considerably cheaper! Worth a look at

Camera on the s9 is pheonomenal. Thats what swayed it for me. Battery is not as good as my s7. But it is my work phone with emails constantly syncing so no doubt thats a major reason.

Huawei aren't unfashionable - they've built the Google Nexus recently and that was a fantastic phone too.
P20 Pro is the best phone on the market at the moment. Only real competition would be the Pixel 2 but that's inferior and not worth the price tag.

No they not I was referring to more obscure makes, but I’d agree the P20 is 1 hell of the phone if it meets your individual needs & budget ect.

I wouldn’t call Huawei fashionable and they’re not a household name despite what they’ve made for other people in the past. (BT Openreach fibre modems for example that tons of people will have)

I meant it in context to Apple & Samsung being more popular, to people who are clued up on technology it’s heard of, if I was to ask eg a random person chances are they would looked puzzled but straightaway they’d recognise Samsung & Apple if that makes any sense.

I wouldn't buy a Samsung anything (even a washer or fridge) due to their bloatware infected products.

Stay as vanilla as you can if you're going for Android.

I'm probably going to go for the s9 next month when my upgrade is due just going off reviews I have seen.
I'm really intrigued by Huawei though especially after reading this thread. It's a shame you can't rent one for a couple of weeks to see how suitable they are

I wouldn’t buy an iPhone 8. I would suggest waiting around 7 weeks or so and pick up an iPhone X when the new iPhone is released. May even be be discounted and it’s an excellent phone.
Obviously I couldn’t recommend any Android device, remember the advert ? “If it’s not an iPhone it’s not an iPhone”

The iPhone X just seems to be a more expensive version of the S8 but with part of the screen cut out.
