Well done for being able to afford it

Well done for being able to get time off work

Well done for those clarets that don't live in Burnley and have travelled mid week on a Thursday night fantastic effort

For the rest of us on holiday ect that can't make it get behind the Clarets via the tv or radio and cheer them on like those lucky enough to be there on the night

Could not tell if this was for the home game or whether it is written for those intent on traveling Istanbul.

Whilst trying not to be too condescending, how on earth can people not afford £25 for the chance to see Burnley in Europe?

Surely the time off work only applies to people who work nights or those who do not live in the Burnley area?

Granted some clarets will be on holiday at the minute but i personally think for us not to sell out is embarrassing.

I can’t afford £25. I’ll be lucky if I can afford to get in one game this season. Doesn’t stop me being a Burnley fan though.

I have a season ticket but can't make midweek games all the way from Bournemouth. I'm certainly disappointed but not embarrassed that I won't be there. I'll be cheering the lads on from in front of my television.

Any number of reasons I guess. Maybe they're frittering it away on stuff for the kids, rent, food... all manner of luxuries.

And don't be embarrassed. If you've bought a ticket, there's not much more you can do is there?

I'm doing half a day at work and leaving Milton Keynes at 11am to travel up to take my kids to the game, then travelling back again after to be back to work for 8am on Friday. I understand why some wont be able to do that, I wont judge others for their choices.

I just want to be there at Turf Moor with my kids as it may be the only chance we ever get to see them play in a European competition at Turf Moor in our lifetimes, and when I'm old(er) and grey(er) and my kids have their own kids we can say, "we were there for that first foray into Europe at Turf Moor in our lifetime" - not sat in front of the TV or in a bar somewhere but actually there.

As I posted on the other thread. Non-attendance in the vast majority of cases is entirely due to it being bang in the middle of Burnley holidays.
Had this game been played when we were last in Europe, then the town would have been virtually deserted for this fortnight.

I would love to go on thursday but unfortunately I have to work. The person that normally covers me is in Spain on holiday. I work for the emergency services. I can't make it. Nothing to do with a less glamorous tie than we expected. I'm sure there are lots of other fans in similar positions.

Burnley wakes weeks were the first two of the summer holidays, that was the beginning of July. They would have come and gone by now.

The attempt to standardise school holidays was an utter farce and all it has done if push the average price for a family summer holiday through the roof.

That does not detract from the fact most families are now away in these two weeks, this must affect the crowd for Thursday, either because fans are physically away or deciding with the expense of holidays on the horizon that BT sport is unfortunately a better option.

We will be expecting a crowd of 17,000+ which is far from poor and a reasonable effort at this time of year.

You are absolutely correct Goody, but as you acknowledge, we are now where we are, and with families now being fined for taking children out of school before the end of term, it shouldn't come as a surprise that a lot of people are away.

We have home capacity for just over 19,000 fans and so if we have a minimum of 15,000 Burnley fans then that is decent.

Obviously we hope for more but it's far from embarrassing. I expect a few more tickets to be shifted before kick off.

When I pop my clogs, I expect my kids to tell the world that their great dad took them to Burnley's first ever home game/win in Europe for 50 years.

I still get warm inside thinking of my dad taking me to York, I hadn't a clue. Just got home from school and he said get in the car. The rest is history.

travelling up from Portsmouth, wouldn't miss the chance to see us live in Europe. Luckily with parents local and flexible working, makes it possible.

Didn't factor in games though when we booked a holiday in spain mid-August thursday-thursday, 2 games missed (potentially)

Finishing work early, travelling with my youngest.I think there are a lot of factors why people aren't going. Its the same for me if we get through this round, I will be away for the next round.I honestly think we have shot ourselves in the foot, with pricing etc. I still think also its a big game for all us of a certain age and saw the bad days.If you would of told me coming off the CFS after the Hereford game we would be playing in Europe at anytime in my life time. I would of felt the bumps on your head and directed you to Calderstones. But we are here and I for one am a very proud Claret.Time to forget about transfers and lack of them, and get behind the lads tomorrow.

It’s been posted on Facebook that there are 3,600 or so seats left online as of lunchtime today, and of course the club keeps a load back for walk ups, so might be looking at a 16,000 or so crowd?

When/why do the club keep tickets back for walk ups?

They have to keep 3k for sale for walk ons ( not season ticket) in the premier league but they can sell them the first day of sales.

Yes but people who fit these circumstances are probably more common than you think.

I travelled from Montpellier to Aberdeen for the first leg but cannot afford or get time off work for this week.

My Dad (who goes to 95% of games each season and travels up from Birmingham for home games) had booked a 2 week holiday with 3 other relatives never thinking we'd qualify for Europe.

Hopefully the vast majority of fans who can attend will do so and cheer us on.

I don't like the thought of empty seats when there is the chance to watch Burnley playing in Europe.

You've got the
"May as well go the pub and watch it, and save myself X amount of pounds"
Or
"I'll get myself a few beers, a curry and watch it at home for the same price"
Or
"For me and the family, 90 mins of football will set me back 50-100 pounds"

Fair enough I say, bottom line is people will decide if the overall value out weighs the overall cost ( time, effort, money etc )
For quite a few it won't, although being on TV plays a major part in that. I'm sure there's other factors too.

I've heard all 3 reasons plenty of the times this week, from people with season tickets and would be on but for it being on TV.

Nothing to do with how many season tickets they are allowed to sell, but so that fans who don’t have the ability to purchase online can do so at the ticket office.

It is cheaper than a league match, and is on an evening when very few people will be at work. How could you not attend.

It’d be my pleasure to pay for your ticket. I can’t make it as ironically I live in Scotland but I’d love for a fellow claret who wouldn’t otherwise be able to go on to experience it.

As usual, travelling from the Isle of Man...The Clarets in Europe.....Aberdeen last week was brilliant and I’m sure tonight will be equally as memorable with JMJunior......how far have we come since Nuneaton away!?

I’m sure both sets of fans will show the good side of football.....
