4-4-2 for me. Wood to come on at 60 mins as impact sub. (which is imho the best way to use him).

I think for the last 10 minutes alone Vokes deserves a chance to start, he gave them all sorts of problems. One thing that was really poor was our delivery from wide areas last week. If we put some quality into the box I'd expect Vokes to get at least one goal tonight.

I'd be tempted to put Long into the mix tonight....he's a real unit and has the strength to cope with some of the rough stuff that they will dish out....he's plenty of Prem experience so should cope with anything Aberdeen can throw at him. Bardsley also has a bit of grit about him and the neccessary experience. ..protects Tark and Lowton.......otherwise as Mala 591

Normally, Vokes would be more suitable as the impact sub, with Wood starting. However Vokes seemed to be a handful last week so doing what most people don't, and thinking of the opposition, I'd go along with Vokes starting.

Vokes has to start tonight. I don't mind whether it's for Hendrick or Wood, but he has to play. Hopefully Barnes will be fit as well but I don't think he'll be risked. My preference:

I love this thread. I was hesitant at first to even look because I half expected to see the negs saying 'play the reserves and let's get out of it'. I think the above formulations will do a job against a very ordinary side (oops that's put us in trouble already). I think Sam should start because they are a tough team physically and he is never afraid to mix it. After last week I'm not too worried about our goalkeeping situation, Lindegaard did a fine job. The back 4 picks itself really and the midfield, considering injuries, looks pretty damn good. All in all I'm not overly worried, I think we will be going to Istanbul to a very good, if small, stadium.

I agree that vokes deserves to start,but Barnes and vokes don't seem to do well together and there's no way I would not play that nutter Barnes.

Whatever the best XI is. Take it seriously, win the game.
