Re: Pitch invader
Had a great view of that; the steward looked like he had a massive adrenaline dump when he was weighing up how to tackle him

Re: Pitch invader
I only caught the last part of it where he seemed to be running from the JHL direction so presume he was 1 of our knob heads?

The only blemish on a great Euro night.
Cut his head and legs off.

Was trying for about 10 minutes to get on the pitch.
Stewards should of thrown him out on his first attempt

Re: Pitch invader
I can think of better times to get yourself banned from Turf Moor.
Most of the 80s and 2002-2007 would have been ok.

Re: Pitch invader
I just can't understand the logic of a pitch invader.
Now, if it had been a streaker... that's different, proper value for the ban haha
On the other hand, no streaker will ever compare to the one vs Bertie Bee against Preston. That's actually an 'I was there' moment!

Re: Pitch invader
Its difficult to know what the reasoning behind it was. The lad went just inside the barrier and stayed there in front of JHL a short time before he ran on. He was asked to remove himself back into the stand by a steward which he did..another more senior ? steward arrved and spoke to him while he was back in the stand..I thought all was sorted but shortly after on an Aberdeen breakaway around the half way line he bolted across the pitch just across the edge of our box heading for the far corner flag..luckily play was halted just then for a free kick and he didn't interfere with play...I must say he was fairly pacy and our stewards unlike the community representatives at London Stadium last season took decisive and speedy action. Hopefully it won't have a detrimental effect on the club and that the lad involved will get help in whatever area he needs it.
Re: Pitch invader
There was no reasoning behind it. He was either off his t**s on drugs or had mental health problems. I was sat near him. Deffo wasn't a full tin of biscuits

As it was Row B near the corner, he could have been a member of a group of vulnerable folk, on a free night out. Aren't they the 'free seats' They use for community purposes?

Re: Pitch invader
Probably both and his mates egging him on but could have been stopped easily if Stewards had done their job was obvious what he was going to do.Damo wrote:There was no reasoning behind it. Re: Pitch invader
I remember a few years ago being at a pre-season game against Bolton (I think), and I was in the JHL, when a chav sat in front of me ran on the pitch before being stopped by stewards.
His motive?
He needed a cig.
True story!

Re: Pitch invader
At the time I just thought he was an Aberdeen trying to run over and be with his own fans like they did in the 80s when it kicked off.
