Heartburn is caused by acid which creates gas which is more indicative of what was in your stomach before the pie. If the stomach was already full of acid, putting something heavy down there even though it was an alkaline potato pie simply forces the gas up into the esophagus creating the heartburn effect or even worse, acid reflux.

Thanks yes it does. No beer on board really.that aside I still don't get why the going for a P!ss or pie that most can relate to......a goal gets scored.

- half time comes in the middle of all the games at Turf Moor.
- The pies should be hot.
- You know how many fans are coming so buy enough to feed them.
- if you have pies left over give them to the homeless and fund the loss from the £120m windfall
- you are there to feed customers who have invested their time money and effort in your business

I’ve never understood the obsession with buying a pie at football. A football match only lasts for 90 minutes, or 120 at a push - and football grounds aren’t exactly renowned for their cuisine. If you want a nice hot meal why not eat before or after the game?

My reason, and I typically don't buy pies, was that I had been travelling for 7 hours solid. But I do agree there seems to be a need to eat among many fans.

Fair enough. I don’t begrudge anyone a pie, far from it. I just think it’s odd to moan if they’re not served piping hot or if the club runs out of stock.

I find that odd to be honest.....a cold hot dog doesn't appeal as much as a piping hot one and for most sporting events running out of stock shouldn't be an option.

A nifty, thrifty innovation I'm sure we can all agree, which means the Bob Lorders in particular will not need to put their dentures to too much of a test from potential resistance of an actual solid bit of potato, or even possibly meat (ha-ha), when biting down

I think that's a little harsh tbf we do also have a wider choice of food than a lot of other grounds also.but if the can't do the pie numbers after 40 odd years it's a poor do.having said I won't be having another this season they're only fit for throwing at the opposition

I left at 2pm yesterday and given the delights of the m6 only arrived at 715pm despite what should have only been a 4 hr drive.Plan was to go out for some tea. I then went to pick up my tickets and queued for just over 30 minutes and there was still about 300 people behind me with only 1 poor woman dishing them out. Surely BFC also know how many tickets need handing out but that's another issue. Grabbed a pie for my daughter and I as we were starving as we ran to our seats. Got to seat. Sat down and boooooom We scored our first goal. Didnt eat again till 7am having got home at 3am. Still worth every bit of effort

Those two had the poorest choice of food at any ground I've been to. Amazing when one is the international stadium and the other is wembley. Our pies might be sh!t but at least we sell em!

My nephew had 2 curry pies at City.

In hindsight that was a poor decision because he was ill the next day

What is the obsession with eating at football?

“Quick let’s miss the last 5 mins of the first half so we can get first in line for a pie”

Kick offs are either 3pm or 7.45 so evening games are more understandable I suppose, but why miss portions of a game that you have paid to see, just to stuff your face?

Personally I’m a nervous wreck for most of the game, so eating is the last thing on my mind.

At west ham all they sold was a big hot dog at £5.50. Not a patch on ours at £3 tbf! We get our scran at the asda store at city failing that take him to McDonald's

Cambridge away many many years and divisions ago was the best food ever, but I will be dammed if I can remember what I had! All I remember is when the subject of food and grounds come up I remember Cambridge and Scunthorpe. Yes Scunthorpe, on getting through the turnstile some kind BFC fan was running around in abject panic shouting "get t'a pie now they are running out", my son still remembers Scunny for that one fan who made us both laugh.

Might just be tradition. My dad never did the eating at football thing. So I rarely do. We did used to stop off for a 12inch meat feast on the way home......... n I have been known to follow that tradition!!

It's really not a very healthy practice, eating while excited. Could give you heartburn in fact.

Trouble is, I can't recall the question that preceded his response.

But football and the eating of pies have been inextricably linked
for as long as I can remember. Especially on a cold winters' day or night.

I can recall that once you could always get pie and mushy peas at the Turf.
When last at the Turf (against Aberdeen) I went down at half time and asked
whether they do pie and peas and was given a pretty blank look from the young
lady serving.

So presume 'pie 'n peas' haven't been on the menu for a number of years?

Looks like even a pie at h/t is a thing of the past!

I must say I enjoyed my pie last night more than ever.

Been in Thailand and landed back in Manchester at 5.15, got in the ground at 7.40, the pie was the perfect welcome home.
